Natasha was willing to give him time. If he thought he needed it. She was giving him a lot of information that he was previously unaware of and didn’t want him to feel overwhelmed by all of it. Regardless of their own personal relationship and whatever it was, she knew how this could affect everything, right down to the way he viewed her and James. Her eyes flicked down to their hands, where his was now covering hers in a way that made her smile.
“You deserve to know,” she responded softly. “The time may come where he has questions, and if I’m the one who can answer them I wouldn’t want you to be blindsided by that. Especially not when you’ve put your trust in me for as long as you have.” She was aware that there were many things from his time as the Winter Soldier that didn’t sit well with James, and while she doubted anything she could say might help with those feelings, she figured he might want someone to talk to about it who could understand. And since Natasha had some similar experiences, she could be that person.
