Natasha waited, wanting to let Steve gather his thoughts. If he disagreed with her, she'd like to know why.
The urge to comment that not having a chance to have a childhood was a tired excuse came to mind, but she squelched it. The circumstances of her own youth were different from Wanda's, and there was no point in comparing apples to oranges. "She and Ja-Bucky are both dealing with personal losses, and could have bonded over that. All I know is she trusts him, and she doesn't trust me, so I've been keeping my distance from both of them."
Natasha made it a point to mention that she wasn't as close to Bucky lately as she once was - mainly due to Wanda - because again, she wanted to be transparent with Steve. To a degree. She wanted him to see that she was making an effort. It mattered to her that Steve realized that.
"I understand. I may not agree with it," she intoned, meeting his eyes. "However, I accept that it's something you feel is important to say and because of that I'll try to keep my arguments regarding it to a minimum." There was something else she needed to get off her chest, and she hoped Steve would listen. "I... I sided with Tony initially because I could see where he was coming from in regards to public outcry and appeasing the government, but there was also the fact that I thought I could minimize some of the damage that I knew his pushing would bring about. To me, it was never being against either of you, though when it became apparent Tony was thinking with his heart and not his head, I did what I felt was best. I know that makes me a traitor in Wanda's eyes, but thank you for not feeling the same."
