She still wasn't sure that she trusted him entirely. And if he stepped away from the door, at least Elena didn't lunge for it once more, though she didn't relax, either. What he said made sense, somewhat. She could understand being wary of people who might attack given his nature.
"Why are you telling me?" She questioned. "If you're worried about mobs, why tell anyone?" Stefan sure hadn't. And she couldn't exactly ask Damon about his brother's motives.
