Lucifer was not the only one who was nervous. Chloe felt that too. She had no idea what it was that he wanted to talk to her about. Honestly, Chloe never knew what to expect when it came to Lucifer. Every time she thought she had him figured out, something else happened and her theory was derailed. And he'd been on his way to tell her something big before they ended up here and he was kidnapped or whatever.
She closed the door as he entered her room. She had no idea what he was going to say to her. She'd played out the scene in her mind, over and over, trying to figure out just what his big secret could be. Nothing came to mind. She was willing to hear him out, but she was still a bit raw from him abandoning her and then the whole...Candy thing.
She admired Lucifer, she respected him. He was a great partner to her. He could get into all kinds of places that she couldn't. And for some reason he had an uncanny ability to make people talk to him and tell him things they wouldn't normally share. But after she'd almost died and he'd left, she'd decided that whatever was between them couldn't possibly work.
She gestured to the couch, for him to sit down. "I think I'll stand." She was keeping her guard up. She was sure he would know that. But it wasn't like she could just let it down. She didn't want to get hurt again. There had been something real between them, she'd thought. And then he was just gone. No contact for weeks. That was unacceptable. Still, she'd hear him out since whatever he had to tell her seemed important.
