Alex was aware things were dangerous right now. But when weren't they? If she put her life on pause every time something happened, then she would never get anywhere or do anything. She coudn't just wait for the danger to pass her by. And she liked to run outside, where she was free. She was careful, and a lot tougher than she looked. Most people had no idea how lethal Alex could be. She was a small girl and hardly intimidating. People underestimated her and it was something she used in her favor.
She didn't have a running partner tonight, but she didn't mind. Alex spent much of her time alone anyway. As long as she was doing something, it didn't bother her. She didn't know what she could do for work here, so she just ran and trained for now. It was better than nothing. A lot of the skills she had couldn't exactly go on a resume. And it wasn't like there was a branch of the UN here. And she hoped no human trafficking either. She hadn't come across any so far, but that didn't mean it wasn't happening.
She liked to run, it was often the only time she felt like she was in control. She got extremely restless when she couldn't run, and that was why she had started running in the hotel during the whole zombie thing. It wasn't the same, but it was something. And now, she figured as long as she stayed away from the other hotels and the lobby of the Mandalay, she'd be fine. She could just run the Strip and avoid the Excalibur especially.
Klaus startled her when she came round the corner and there he was. He was a vampire, though. She knew that. She'd known it since their first meeting. For some reason, she didn't even care. Vampires snuck up on people, but she didn't like that she hadn't been alert enough to notice. She rolled her eyes at his use of her whole first name.
"Again, it's Alex." She corrected him. Alexandra felt like an entirely different person, or not even a person at all. A persona. Not who she was inside. She folded her arms across her chest and looked at him. "Do you always sneak up on people when they're enjoying a run?"
