RP: A Welcome Talk Who: Summer, Aiden When: Wednesday April 17, 2013 Where: Lobby of the Lodge Rating: likely PG-13 Status: Closed, Complete
Summer splashed her face with water and toweled it dry with a sigh. She still felt unsettled deep inside by the events of the past year plus, not to mention more recent events. Her normal resilient optimism had been more than sorely tested of late, and she had a lurking paranoia in the back of her head that this place was too good to be true. It didn't help that she wasn't precisely sure what to make of Aiden even now. Sure, she'd been younger and a little more innocent the last time they'd met, still childfree but definitely married.
She stared at herself in the mirror, noticing dark circles and rumpled clothes. She wrinkled her nose, growling softly at herself unconsciously. She always tried to be put together. What a horrible impression she was making, she was sure. She tried to repair her make up, what little she bothered to wear most days, while Berry used the toilet and Seb cooed at Monster.
Monster was the large husky dog who’d been with her family since before Berry was born. The slightly aging animal was the perfect nanny for her two children, as weird as it sounded to most people, and would set up an absolute howl if something happened. She’d been boarded when they’d run the last time, but she’d picked up the dog before finally contacting Aiden. She was a member of the family, and Summer hadn’t been about to leave her behind if she could help it.
This was as clean and presentable as she was going to get without a shower and a change of clothes, though, after that final long, stressful drive up here.
She smiled politely at Aiden as she came to sit down on the sofa in the lobby. She motioned for Berry to take Seb and play on the rug over a little ways away. She trusted this just enough to provide a safe place for her and her children, at least for now. Farther than that, she was going to wait and see. “Thank you again for taking us in,” she told him sincerely.
