When Fred embraced him once she had got dressed again, Wesley couldn't help but smile and laugh softly. "Yes, you did," he agreed, whispering against her lips. "And I promise never to doubt you again."
He let her go reluctantly once the doctor returned, grabbing Fred's jacket for her while she looked at everything else that the doctor had given her. At her suggestion that they go by the pet store, he raised an eyebrow, looking at her for a moment before turning to glanced at his daughter. Regan looked very excited at the prospect, so much so that he knew it was going to be hard--no, impossible to say no.
"All right But just to look. There's a lot of things we need to consider before we think about even getting a pet. But...there's no harm in looking."
"Thank you!" Regan bounced over and hugged him then hugged Fred before jumping back. "Oh! The baby!"
"You won't break her, sweetheart," Wesley assured her. "I learned that when she was pregnant with you. You'll just have be careful as the baby gets bigger."
Nodding, Regan hugged her mum again, and then the three of them headed out of the surgery and out to the car. Before long, they were down at the shops, and after stopping in the chemist to get Fred's prescription, they walked next door to look at the dogs.
"Aw, look!" Regan said, pointing to several puppies together in a large caged area.
