Fred clung to her husband as he asked her what she wanted to do. She thought the answer would be easy but a pang of guilt ran through her body. Angel had done so much for the both of them, yet she had to remember all they'd sacrificed for him. They had discussed leaving long before when she was pregnant with Regan but had stayed to help. They had lost their daughter because of it and it was hard telling what would happen to them if they stayed at the firm.
Pulling back, Fred used the back of her hand to wipe her cheeks. It was the hardest decision she'd had to make, yet it was also the easiest. "I want to leave," she whispered. "I can't bear the thought of what would happen if we stayed. Regan needs normalcy in her life and she won't get it here. And we can't shelter her for the rest of her life but if we stay here, we'll have to."
All of this was for Regan. Fred silently promised the little girl every night she would be taken care of and protected, and she couldn't do that if she was bringing their daughter into an evil law firm every morning. "It's time for all of us to lead our own lives and we can't do that here," Fred said. "I just hope Angel understands."
She knew he would. After all, he'd made sacrifices for his own child and needed to understand they were doing this for Regan.
