Wesley sighed, uncertain in how to answer his wife's question as it was one they'd discussed so many times before. There were reasons certainly for why they were there, reasons they had continually used to remind themselves in the days before they had finally come here. But Regan's kidnapping by Lilah...that was something they had never talked about. He supposed because they knew that was the one thing that would have kept them from saying yes, and they didn't want to do that to Angel or Connor.
"I know you don't want to lose her, love," he told her softly, walking over to her and standing if front of her as she sat on the conference table. "Do you know how many times I've lay awake, scared that every noise I hear is someone coming to take her away again?"
She was right that things had been all about Connor, and he knew why. It was precisely because things had been different for Regan than they had been for Connor. Regan had ended up in a place where she had been loved and cherished and cared for before being returned to her parents, assured of their love for her. Connor had not. And in a way, Wesley had always felt guilty about that even though he had been grateful as well that his daughter had been the one to be so well taken care of.
Wrapping his arms around Fred, he held her tight, nuzzling the top of her head. "I would die before I let anything happen to her again," he whispered. "But what should we do? Because if want to leave, you know I'll take you and Regan, and we'll go. Both of you are more important to me than anything."
