Fred smiled and nodded. "It's the biggest I've ever been in. But I'm now short a person. I had to fire my assistant yesterday. He was a good worker but he was becoming rude to me and my family so I fired him yesterday. Plus, I really didn't trust him," she said just as Wesley asked his question.
She moved over to where they were standing and leaned against Wesley's desk. "I did a temperature scan on him. Ghost are supposed to be cold but Spike is lukewarm. I check all the places where he'd been standing and all of them were lukewarm, instead of cold," she said. "And Regan could sense a soul in him."
Rupert furrowed his brow. "That's strange. Ghosts are supposed to be cold and soulless," he said before he tapped his finger against the book he was holding. He then looked at Martin and handed the amulet to him. "Have you seen anything like this before?"
Martin took it from Rupert's hand and examined it for a bit. "Hmm. He's obviously not a ghost. Did you say he was killed by fire?" he asked. Rupert nodded and Martin furrowed his brow. "I'm thinking this amulet let out some sort of protection spell. It could've made Spike transparent in order to protect him from the fire. That could explain him not being--."
"Wes! Have you found out anything about that damn amulet?" Angel asked as he burst through the door.
"Yeah, Percy. What's going on? I want to leave," Spike said as he come in behind Angel. "Hey, Rupes! Here to help, too?"
