"I do believe Regan wants a dog," Rupert said with a laugh as he and Wesley walked over to the table in Wesley's office.
"Noticed that, did you?" Wesley asked, setting his satchel down and opening it up. He took out the amulet and handed it over to the other man.
"Just a bit. Now...let's see what we have here."
"Obviously, it's somehow tied Spike to this place. I overheard him mentioning that every time he tried to head for the city limits, he got pulled back here."
Rupert nodded as he studied the object, turning it over in his hand. "So it held his...essence? Soul? Spirit? And then released it?"
"When Angel dropped it on the floor."
"There's nothing to indicate it's cracked. In fact, it feels solid - not hollow like it's able to hold something."
Rupert sat down in one of the chairs, pursing his lips at he stared at the amulet. Wesley sat down with him, pulling out the source book he had taken home with him the night before but hadn't used since they had spent the evening watching movies instead. He called up the book on the mystical objects he had been thumbing through before and opened it for Rupert to look through before reaching over to grab one of the other ones.
"Good lord, is this one of those books you mentioned?" Rupert asked.
Wesley nodded. "Yes. Is there a book that you think might help you? The library and vault have quite a lot of tomes to choose from."
Once he had shown Rupert how to call up the book he wanted, Rupert began flipping through the pages, his brow furrowing. He looked over toward where Martin and Fred were speaking together. "Fred, did you say you had run a scan of Spike? What exactly did you find?"
