A virus. Bloody wonderful, Wesley thought, especially when Angel said that Fries had planted it in his son. He looked over at his wife, knowing that she'd undoubtedly figure out what was needed to keep Fries turning his son into Patient Zero.
After kissing her goodbye, he turned back to Angel. "So how did all of this come up?" he asked.
"One of the lack--um, lawyers brought him into my office this morning. You can imagine how that went once he mentioned dropping the 'bomb'. I don't think even...Desmond, I think was name, was expecting that." Angel pushed himself up from the couch.
"I take he didn't offer the information on what the 'bomb' was willing?"
"Of course not. I got pointed to the person who helped him set him up. Guy named Spanky. Real winner there. I got the information from him."
"Who pointed you that way?"
"Her," Angel said, pointing out the door of Wesley's office. He turned around to see a young woman walking toward them, a smile on her face.
"Well, hi there. Find out the information you needed, Angel?" she asked.
"You could say there."
She looked over at Wesley and Gunn. "Hi. I'm Eve, your liaison. Well, Angel's liaison mainly, but I'm sure I'll be working with all of you. Did Fred leave already? I was hoping to introduce myself to her too."
"She went done to the lab to work on this problem Fries dropped in our lap," Wesley said.
"Ah! Well, good. I'm sure there's a lot you guys have to work on with that, so I'll let you get too it. But before I leave...Charles, I need to talk to you."
Gunn looked at Wesley and Angel before nodding and following her out into the lobby. They spoke for a few moments before Eve handed him a business card.
"Wonder what that's about?" Wesley murmured.
"Not sure," Angel said.
"You can't hear them?"
He shook his head. "By the way. Harmony?"
Wesley snorted slightly, realizing that Angel's new assistant must have made herself known. "Believe me, she was the least problematic of the lot."
Angel seemed to consider that for a moment. "We're going to need to keep tabs on Fries' trial while we figure out what to do about his son. I want to know if there's a chance he could drop it before it happens."
