Once the doctor finished a final scan showing that the virus was completely gone, Wesley spent a few minutes on the charm to completely dissolve the vessel. When he was done, Matthew looked at him, his hand rubbing over where Wesley had placed the pouch, then over at the door.
"Mom!" he cried out, running into a blond woman's arms.
Angel explained what was going on as Matthew's mother hugged him tightly, obviously relieved to see that her son was all right. Once they walked out of the isolation room, Wesley raised an eyebrow when he saw Harmony sitting with Regan. He wasn't surprised that his daughter hadn't taken much to the vampire - she was indeed rather thick, and he knew his daughter didn't have much use for idiots. She came by it honestly.
Once they reached Angel's office, Wesley was about to ask what was in the envelope when Gunn walked in, Lorne behind him. Turning around, he couldn't believe his eyes. Lorne hadn't been kidding about the suit. What in would had happened? He practically looked like he had been born an attorney.
"The firm needed a head for the legal section. I volunteered."
"Volunteered?"
"Gunn had the most untapped potential of all of you," said Eve as she walked into the office. She looked over at Fred and smiled, sticking out her hand. "Hi, Fred. Nice to finally meet you. I'm Eve, Angel's liaison to the Senior Partners. Anyway, Gunn needed a place. You needed a legal mind on your team. So we gave him everything he needed - all the legal knowledge he could hold."
Gunn rubbed his hand over his head. "Plus a mess load of Gilbert and Sullivan."
"Standard addition. It's great for diction," Eve continued. "So all his degrees and bar exam scores are forged, but he's the real deal. And obviously a great deal - he managed to fix the problem today without resorting to violence." She looked over at Angel with raised eyebrows. "How did you do, Angel?"
Angel shifted uncomfortably, making Wesley wonder what had happened earlier, especially considering what he had said about the ops team needing a new leader. He looked over at Gunn without answering her. "I wish you had told us."
"I wasn't going to change my mind, no matter what you guys said. Look...it's still me. You want, I can sing. I seem to know enough songs now."
Angel sighed as he began ripping open the envelope.
