APEX ATTACK: PRISON CONVOY II
Just your regular every day special mission... Patrols were, usually boring. Thus it was that most Field Teams found it a blessing of sorts to have their Patrol switched to a special assignment -- even when that assignment was guarding a prison convoy filled to the brim with APEX prisoners. Still, the Red Team was prepared for it. And THEN what happened? With AGENT FOXTROT as their eye in the sky, sniper scope pointed along the route they'd be taking, they made their way from the Lock toward the maximum security prison at a slow but steady rate. MUSTANG meanwhile took to running up and down the route, scouting ahead and then sweeping back to ensure the convoy was still moving. PHILISTINE, STRAIN, and AGENT ROMEO stuck by the transport itself, ready to combat those inside with strength, pain, and gadgetry (respectively) should the need arise. All in all, things were going rather smoothly -- the prisoners inside were all cuffed, chained, bound (or in the case of a particular purple adversary, drugged out of his mind), and the route was clear. It seemed like this would be textbook, that their secrecy had paid off, that APEX hadn't known about the transport and that they'd get it done and over with. Until, at least, in the middle of the street there stood one lone, blonde young woman with the power to rock your world -- literally. The street beneath the transport suddenly sank about a foot into the ground, bringing things to a rapid halt and signalling to those inside that it was time to move. There wa a deafening roar, then a deafening crash, as Montagne proved he wasn't as drugged up as they'd supposed, busting out of the convoy and sending the back door flying along with the two RS Agents who'd been stationed inside -- broken in several important places and very, very much dead. So what do WE do? Immediately the Nose, Bat Lady, the Skating Speedster, and the Cyberpath all just attempted to run for it like the cowards they are. MUSTANG and FOXTROT however were having none of that. Colby ran back toward the group at full speed, taking momentum-boosted swings at everyone he could before finally coming to the fleeing group where his primary target became, of course, the Speedster (whom Colby would like it noted he is definitely faster than). Patrick, meanwhile, focused on picking off the group, taking his time to line up shots and knock down whoever he could while also providing eye-in-the-sky intel for the rest of the team on the rogues' movements as a whole. In the end, the Nose escaped, while Colby was able to take down the Speedster and Patrick took out the Bat Lady and the Cyberpath. Montagne led a small contingent consisting of the Elastic Woman, the Brass Bruiser, Eight Arm Charlie, the Spiked Man, Snakeman, and Leatherface, in direct conflict with the Agents/Operatives in their immediate vicinity: PHILISTINE, STRAIN, and ROMEO. At first, Gregory did his best to dissuade the group of fighters with an impassioned call for a rational, non-violent solution -- which quickly enough "turned into an insufferable exchange of ego and words between him and Montagne" (Ryan's description, not mine). When the plea for cooperation failed, Greg came out and engaged in combat with Montagne directly, along with the Brass Bruiser and Leatherface in a "knock-down, kick-the-junk, bite-the-ear brawl" (again, Ryan's description). Evariste, meanwhile took on the "less 'could bash his face in with their fists'" (Kaitlin), looking to enhance the pain from Greg's attacks -- focusing his attention on the Snakeman, Elastic Woman, and Eight Armed Charlie. Curtis, meanwhile, was equipped with a sonic gadget just in case such a situation as this occurred, focusing it on Montagne and doing his best to fell the purple monstrosity once more. Ultimately Greg, Evariste, and Curt's attacks allowed their combined efforts to take down the Elastic Woman, Brass Bruiser, and Eight-Armed Charlie, but the Spiked Man, Snakeman, Leatherface, and Montagne all got away. Montagne did, however, give Greg a small alute on the way out -- for what it's worth, he respects both halves of you, Sir. Meanwhile, the Evil eye, Smokey, and the Sandman all attempted to run while still throwing attacks over their shoulders as they did so. Between Colby's driveby attacks and Patrick's shooting, however, the Eye and Sandman went down, even if Smokey managed to float off. And while the Field Team was distracted by the other fourteen rogues, Rocky the Terrakinetic and her buddy Burnwinkle reunited and hightailed it in another direction completely, vanishing easily in all the chaos. End Results TL;DR: The Red Team's special mission to guide the convoy to the maximum security prison was interrupted by an APEX attack. In the ensuing chaos, the Bat Lady, the Cyberpath, and the Evil Eye were killed, Elastic Woman, Brass Bruiser, Eight-Armed Charlie, and the Speedster were all captured/killed (pending judgement), while the Nose, Spiked Man, Snakeman, Leatherface, Smokey, Burnwinkle, Rocky, and of course Montagne all got away (boo). RS Agents 411 and 666 were both killed by Montagne, some time between the transport leaving the facility and the moment the attack began in earnest. About the second half of all the fighting was caught by news helicopters, there was news coverage after (the team wasn't allowed to comment, but civilian witnesses sure as fuck had a lot to say), and of course the DMS facility was AFLUTTER with activity because literally half their captured APEX folks just escaped. I am sorry for how late this is, but assume it happened today. |
