IC/OOC Event for August 15th: Riot at Capers
PANIC! AT THE DISCO: RIOT AT CLUB NIGHT "Club Night" at Capers is usually one Hell of a tame affair. It's been going on for years: One night a month when the bar instead pretends to be a club, allowing entry for everyone over eighteen as it tries to pretend it's a night club with dancing and music and, well, all that that entails. And, sure, it's the closest the younger set of Metahumans gets to dance and party like the rest of your generation, and that comes with all the wildness they can manage. Sure, it seems like there's always at least one kid who had a few too many Jell-O shots before leaving their apartment and made a mess of the bathroom, and yes stumbling upon folks hooking up in the Atrium is considered a running joke -- but still, it's all supervised fun. Even with the alcohol that's still served to those of age and wearing a wristband (entirely for show, since everyone knows how old everyone is...), most people are just there to dance and jump around in strobe lights and madness. It's just fun, you know? So, of course, who would've guessed it would've turned into a full-fledged riot? And THEN what happened? Well, to be honest? It all went so wrong so fast... But things were tense throughout the building Saturday after the Stonewall Investigation concluded, and even as the party started, something felt off about the whole thing. The savvier of the Club Night regulars (or the Capers staff) might have noticed there were more people there than were usual for the event, that it had gone from crowded to packed faster than anyone could have expected, maybe because people just wanted the distraction. The particularly savvy might've noticed things getting a bit wild, as things got later and later. They might've noticed people hitting the booze harder than usual for a night like this. The music seemed louder. The lights flashed brighter, hotter. It had been a rough few weeks and now? It just seemed to all be coming to a head. Halfway through the night, the protest started. Signs and chants outside of the bar. It was about their freedom, it was about being oppressed, it was about the shit that was going on with Xray, with Stonewall, with APEX. Most people put it out of their minds -- the case was closed, it was over, let it go. But it just made the tension grow. And then someone started talking about how APEX was right. They started screaming about the fascism in the system -- and when the RS Agent bouncers tried to talk them down, they took a swing. Then someone threw a bottle. Then someone threw a chair. Then someone threw a fireball. And then everything went to Hell. So what do WE do? Well. STROBE, PRINCE CHARMING and The DJ were working. They were there in the beginning, they were there in the middle, they were there through the end. Similarly, AGENT 491 and AGENT 449 were there the whole time, too, assigned bouncer duty for the event. They were the ones to respond, when things started getting nasty, and they were the ones first attacked as the protesters became violent. As things got more insane, the Agents called in backup (All RS Agents) to combat against the crowd as some started throwing bottles and/or using their powers. Things escalated quickly into a full scale riot, as some metahumans worked with the agents to subdue those who were causing the most havoc -- especially the ones who started shouting about APEX as they attacked the Agents. FRAGMENT and SHIELD found themselves cornered by a fire that started in the bar, until LAMARCK saved them. BAT BOY, DOPPLER, WHATSHISFACE, CRAYOLA, and Metahuman 8 were amongst the (rather sizable) number of residents taken to the SHU on suspicion of being involved with the riot. Though the Agents were using nonlethal force (batons, tasers, and eventually tear gas as things escalated), Several Metahumans were still injured in the crossfire. On the flip side, Several RS Agents including 028, 229, and... and Several Metahumans Including JELL-O, KRAKATOA, KNOCKOUT, and... were injured by the metahuman rioters. [These claims are not limited; Feel free to keep jumping in on these claims] End Results TL;DR: A riot broke out during Capers' Club Night, out of Stonewall/Xray Investigation tensions. All on-duty RS Agents were called in to quell things, and in the end a bunch of residents were sent to the SHU, half of Capers was trashed, and a number of people were injured. RS Agents 1 and 2 were severely injured and taken to medical to be patched up by healers after the rioters were subdued. Whether Metahumans 4-8 were actually involved or not is up to the players, but they will all be held through the weekend, and released from the SHU on Monday. Since this isn't a 'fight' like the other ones, we're not doing rolls the way we did for other IC/OOCs. Similarly, any Metahuman can have been present and involved, even if they don't take one of the claims above. If you want to have us randomly roll to determine if your character was injured/the severity of his/her injuries, just note so below. As a result of the riot, All of DMS Facility 003 will be put on LOCKDOWN. Residents will be restricted to the Housing Floors (third through seventh) from when Lockdown is announced Saturday night, until it is lifted Sunday evening via an announcement from Zeus. Similarly, no visitors will be allowed into the Facility. During this time, RS Agents will patrol the hallways of the Housing Floors, and will distribute a simple cafeteria breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the residents Sunday. Obviously, no Deltas may use their day passes this weekend, and anyone else who had leave for this weekend found it revoked and will need to reschedule. An OOC about this will go up Saturday. TDA: I added another SHU slot. In case anyone notices. |
