APEX ATTACK: GARRICK, ALLEN & WEST LLC Garrick, Allen, and West were not names that your average citizen of Chicago would know off the top of their head. It'd take the work of an intrepid googler to find that the firm got its start as a bunch of ambulance chasers (Helping YOU! In a FLASH!) but in the years since, the aging lawyers (and moreso the younger partners who have largely taken the over control of the firm) have moved toward more legitimate law practices, and largely in a consulting capacity. All in all, they were a pretty boring group. Which is why it was so weird that APEX would strike there, really. For the Violet Team, their patrol was just starting. They'd barely been out in the field for ten minutes when the call came in, the DMS tipped off by a young paralegal who'd come into work early to put some paperwork together for Mr. Allen. The hushed, panicked call to the Department was made apparently from within a broom closet. Thank god for cell phones, eh? Luckily for her, the patrolling team wasn't far off, and arrived within a few minutes -- unluckily for her, that still wasn't fast enough, and they arrived just as APEX was leaving, the young paralegal's hiding space being found, and her body thrown into the street as the front of the building exploded outwards. And THEN what happened? Writ short? Chaos. The Violet Team arrived just as APEX made their grand exit, and the explosion of the front of the building was done as much to incite panic as an attack against the approaching Operatives and Agents. Civilians on the street were either caught in the blast or at the very least sent screaming and running from it, proving as usual that while individuals may be intelligent, People as a species are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals. The team thus found themselves with three immediate challenges a) the actual blast of a building and surrounding street being torn up at them, b) the civilians running around in the goddamn way, and c) the APEX team trying to escape in all this mess. Said group consisted of a woman whom immediately split into three copies of herself, a big man with eight arms, a pyrokinetic lad, and Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. Shade was there, too. So what do WE do? FORTUNE and UNIFORM made their priority a matter of getting civilians aware from the wild blasts of Pyrolad and Rockgal. Though the two weren't entirely working together with their explosive use of their abilities, they were certainly presented the biggest clear and present danger. The Agent and Operative can either both attack, both focus on defending/getting civilians away, or split up and one handle each side of the objective. In any case, they're going to need a whole lot of skill, and a little bit of luck. FRACTURE and Operative Three didn't get to pick a priority, as they were attacked by Eight-Armed Charlie and the three Angels. He's super strong, they're swift and agile -- if you need a hand, altogether they've got fourteen sets of phalanges. It's gonna take a lot of handcuffs to bring them in. TESLA, Operative Five, and Agent Two, however, know a high-priority target when they see one, going after Shade as she tried to slip away. End Results Everything will immediately be on the news Wednesday morning. There were three civilian deaths and eight injuries in the initial explosion (plus whoever isn't saved by the Team), along with the paralegal. Members of Operative Support were called in to tend to any wounded Operatives/Agents post-incident. BECAUSE WE ARE NOW POSTING THESE THINGS THREE DAYS IN ADVANCE everyone from Violet will have until the end of the day Wednesday to reply with claims and their responses. Rolls will be made either once all the replies I need for that roll are in, or at the end of the day Wednesday whether they're in or not. TL;DR APEX attacked a Law Firm Wednesday around eight in the morning. When Violet Team arrived they made an explosion with killed three people and a paralegal for the law office. A Pyrokinetic and a Terrakinetic attempted to harm civilians to cover the APEX retreat (two more dead, four critically injured, thirty-six saved by the Team; Pyro caught, Terra escaped). The team fought an eight-armed man and a self-replicator who attacked instead of immediately fleeing (eight arms caught, replicator escaped). Shade was there, and she just walked away without getting hit like the BAMF HBIC she is (Shade... obviously got away). |
