Being a Delta wasn't always fun, even if you were one of the few special Deltas who also got to double as an Operative. Jewel was proud of her power, but being able to use x-ray vision (or infrared or gamma ray) wasn't exactly a kind ability to have on one's head. And after a solid sneakathon and battle using her abilities on top of duking it out (or hiding from) a man with explosive abilities, she was riding home on Monday with a Level 200 headache. And it didn't stop there. Because there was paperwork. And Ares. And Athena. And all of those things that required talking and explanations and people were being escorted to the medical wing and Jewel couldn't remember any of it. All she recalled was the sweet sense of relief when someone placed two aspirin in her hand and Grace was called to walk her back to their suite. Where she promptly collapsed in bed on the verge of a migraine. And then she had to get up the next day for training. The headache came back. And then they had to do Wednesday patrol. The headache came back. And then Sadie Sullivan screamed. Jewel puked into her cereal. And went to go shower. Jewel was many things, but practical was not one of them. What started as the consideration for getting fresh air (dressed in a hoodie, slacks, and heels - see? I told you she wasn't practical) ended up becoming a trip to Brewed Awakening where she just wanted some tea. It was not a good idea, but at least she was up and about. Until she fell asleep at her table while waiting for her drink to be called. Hood pulled over her head and face-down on the wooden surface, if Grace had seen her, there would have been some serious flashbacks to college. |
