APEX ATTACK: RICHARDS STORAGE FACILITY Rick Richards was a man with an unusual interest in storage. They thought it was crazy, building an empire on the simplest of concepts: A chain of warehouses for companies without their own storage place to, well, store stuff. And yet... it turned out that it was one of those niches that needed to be filled, and he was the man to fill it, as if he'd been born to... store stuff. Hey it's a weird job but someone has to do it, right. The irony, though, was that Tony totally failed to read his own patrol schedule correctly, saying that this attack happened during the Grey Team's patrol when, lol, the Grey Team was only patrolling on Mondays to fill in for Blue and now had Mondays off. Which is why they were not having a quiet boring patrol, nor were they having a particular exciting patrol. They weren't having any kind of patrol at all, actually. They were probably doing whatever they wanted to do at home -- until, of course, the warehouse maybe a block away from the DMS Facility exploded, and the Grey Team was called in as emergency backup to help the actually patrolling Gold Team. So congrats, now there are two teams involved here. And THEN what happened? The Agents and Operatives of the Gold Team were already on patrol, as stated. They received word of the attack and resulting explosion on a block of warehouses in The Loop, by The Lock (say that five times fast), but were on the other side of town when it happened, handling a minor rogue incident that was unrelated to APEX (telekinetic grifter, he went in without a fight, it was pretty boring, etc.). Thus the Grey Team was called, since (most of them) were in the Facility nearby and considered close enough to be thrown into the fray. The Grey Team arrived first to find that of the four warehouse facilities, one was now just about completely consumed by fire (having exploded), while a second had a rather large hole in the side (also caused by explosive powers) and several APEX folks inside, trashing stuff. Like they do. Said trashers included: an agile man covered in metal spikes, a woman with bat-like features flying about, and a speedster wearing honest-to-god Brink roller blades. The Gold team arrived later, while Grey was halfway through their fighting -- and noticed almost immediately that lights had been turned on in building number three. Since this building hadn't been blown wide open, they used So what do WE do? ALLOY, NEWTON, and BRAVO squared off with the spiked man. While the last attack's primary brute might've been big and strong, what this guy has is agility, grace, and a sharp wardrobe. Covered in metal spikes, getting close enough to touch him is going to be difficult, and he's the kind of striker who plans to get close and cut to the chase. ROGUE and TANK were attacked by the Bat Lady, who struck to striking with dives from above -- or by picking up objects to drop/throw at them. The goal, here, is to bring her back down to earth, somehow. TANGO and ALFA were attacked by the speedster. Between his skates and his, well, speed, he definitely has the advantage in close range: slipping in, hitting hard, and getting out fast. The one good news is that, to someone with the right skills, his moves just might be predictable enough to scope out. Grey Team Operative 5 and Grey Team Agent 4 were... nowhere to be found. For some reason, they didn't get or didn't answer the call to action. Athena and Ares weren't terribly pleased about this, when they got home. (NB: While this does mean there ARE volunteer spots for all Agents/Operatives on Grey; if these are the only spots left and you feel your Operative/Agent WOULD have gone with them to the fight and not missed it, you can totally just handwave that they were involved in one of the above, though they won't contribute to the rolls. This is more just for a chuckle, if someone wants to take it) Meanwhile... DOPPLER and BLACKOUT got as close as they could to the teleporter and the man with the nose to try and overhear their conversation. Eventually, they were caught, and the battle ensued, but how much they heard... we'll see. After that, things got crazy. The teleporter again peaced out, ditching her two companions. The Nose also ran for it, as the exploding man started making cover. The Entire Gold Team was forced to fight him, as he threw explosions this way and that, putting them on the defensive early. It seems like he's building up to something big. Better bring him down fast, if you want to catch the Nose, too. End Results The teleporter, once again, escaped. The Speedster was captured by the joint efforts of Cynthia and Ignatius. The Bat Lady was captured by Aran and Grant's work together. The attack on the warehouses was televised. The Grey Team leaving the facility was loud and public. Anyone living in Apartments lettered B, D, G, H, K, and M could see the fire/smoke/etc. from their window(s). |
