Who: Julius and Genevieve
What: A surprise!
Where: Their home, the barn
When: October, 2009
The house and barn were finished, and not a day too soon, it seemed- the weather was turning toward wintertime, with frost on the ground in the mornings and cooler evenings. Julius, for his part, was glad for the warm forge in the barn- though the walk from the barn to the house at the end of the day was always a brusque one, his cheeks still red from the cold even after the short distance.
Today, however, he didn't plan on making that walk back. Not that he'd told Genevieve this, of course- he'd simply said that he had some work to do out in the forge. It wasn't really a lie, since he did have work to do- but once that was done, he set the forge's flames a bit higher to warm the barn (and loft, he thought, smiling a bit to himself) even more, and unwrapped and set up a picnic dinner he'd secreted out of the house that morning. It was nothing too fancy- he didn't think Genevieve expected that, anyway- but it was a nice gesture, he hoped. Now he just had to hope that Genevieve got curious about his whereabouts soon enough.
