Who: Kathryn, Miles, and ickle!Arabella/Nathaniel What: Family-ness Where: Their home in St. Albans When: Late Summer, whenever Kathryn's pregnant with Morgaine
It had been a rather trying day. Kathryn woke up that morning to the baby pressing on her bladder and once she had gotten up, Nathaniel had started crying upstairs. Miles had already left for work, and she made her way up as quickly as she could. She knew she wasn't supposed to be moving around too much, but she was only five months along, and it wasn't like she couldn't make it up a simple flight of stairs. By the time she'd fed and changed Nathaniel, she could hear Ella in her room fussing to be picked up. So Kathryn tucked Nate into his sling and made her way into Ella's room.
It was another three hours before both children had been fed, bathed, and dressed, and Kathryn took them all into her bedroom where she could rest. She rather felt like she could use a shower herself, but she could wait until they were napping or something. A corner of their room had been designated as a sort of play area for the babies since they had both moved into their own nurseries, and Ella had seemed content to play with Kathryn there while Nate entertained himself with some blinky flashy dangly game that Kathryn was pretty sure Pansy or somebody had given them for him. At some point when they had all gotten tired, they fell asleep in the bed, and Kathryn awoke later to the sound of Ella calling out, "Mama!"
Kathryn was out of bed as quickly as she could, finding Ella caught under a pile of towels that she had managed to pull out of the linen closet in the bathroom. "Ella!" It was another half hour before she got Ella to stop fussing and everything put back where it was supposed to be, when an owl arrived telling her that her dress for her mother's dinner next week was ready at the tailor's, but they wanted to have her come by to try it on one more time and pick it up. So she got everybody dressed and ready to go out, tried on and picked up her dress, ran into one of the girls who worked at her office- the girl made a comment that Kathryn would normally be able to ignore and go on her merry way, but she hexed her today anyways and continued on her way home.
By this point, both children were tired again, and Kathryn tucked them in upstairs for a nap, then came back downstairs to finally get off her feet. She was just leaning back on the couch when she felt it- it was so slight she almost missed it, and she looked down at her stomach as she lie back. "Hello, darling," she whispered, tugging her shirt up and smiling as she saw a slight movement and felt the baby kick. "Mummy's here."
