Nancy's eyelids slowly parted. Her gaze met the ceiling. For well over 30 minutes she lay still, unaware of her own consciousness.
Eventually her chest began to tingle. The sensation spread across her stomach, down her legs and into the tips of her toes, rounding its way back across her chest, fanning through her arms and eventually reaching her head.
Her other senses began to return, one by one. She began hearing a soft, repetitive 'thumping' accompanied by a slight pressure in her chest. "Heartbeat"...the word pressed past her lips and it's meaning entered her brain.
She pressed her elbows against the bed and pushed herself into a sitting position. Pulling her knees against her chest, reality began to settle in.
The last thing she could remember was death, dying at the hands of Freddy and in the arms of her protege Kristen. After that, her memory was blank, an endless line of nothing...until The Grounds Keeper came to her. Where once, was nothing...he had came. All she could remember of his visit, was conversation about an "invitation" and taking an envelope he held out to her. Her mind began to race! What was a dream and what was reality? Had she died? Was Fred Krueger even real? The Grounds Keeper? The racing thoughts sent her into a panic.
It all built up to a big scream "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"...
Nancy wrapped her arms around her knees and trembled, wondering if anyone could hear her.
