Glancing at Rain once more before returning his gaze to the forest ahead, Chas fidgeted some with the collar of his jacket, buttoning it until the very last button. Somehow, he didn’t feel any warmer still – and he just couldn’t shake the feeling that the shiver running down his back had nothing to do with the cold breeze.
Closing the door behind him, without any questions, he set off to follow the other two. With each step he took in the direction of the forest, the atmosphere seemed eerier, and for a moment Chas pondered just turning around and heading in the opposite direction. All this? Didn’t look promising, and the clammy feeling the forest gave him didn’t help, either. And still it was better than the uncertainty sitting around doing nothing provided.
Busy with these thoughts again, a bird screeching in the distance nearly gave him a heart attack. “Damn birds…” He cursed under his breath, looking around cautiously.
