Caspar frowned. "Funny, you'd think you'd stopped breathing if you were dead", he replied somewhat sarcastically before she explained.
"Actually, I'm glad you're not screaming. You don't know how often I get 'EEK! Ghost!' screamed at me by the new residents here. Until they figure out what's going on, of course", Caspar replied as he moved about the room. Unable to sit down, all that the ghost had to do was either float or walk around. He decided on the latter, just to keep things a little normal.
"This isn't a dream. Or a hallucination. Or some freaky drug trip", he quickly responded. "The faster you accept, the safer you'll be. As for what this place is..." Caspar trailed off, playing with the hem of his shirt as he thought about how to best describe the mansion. "It's purgatory", he finally replied, not exactly telling the truth but telling her what he thought it was. "You're alive here now but you won't be for long. No one survives the House for long", the ghost warned, adding emphasis on the word 'house' as though saying a name.
"There's no way out, so don't even bother asking me that one", he sadly added. That was a popular question with the new residents. "I mean, if I knew a way outta here, don't you think I would have left already? Although, the other people who died here have", he added thoughtfully. "Left, I mean. Once they died, they were able to leave and go off to the great unknown. Most of them although a few, like myself, are stuck for some goddamn reason".
The ghost moved closer to the door, glancing at it nervously before he started to answer her question about the new residents. "No clue. I only know who I've seen and so far that's the group you met earlier, yeah I saw you guys then, and there's a trio in a bedroom down the hallway but other than that.." Caspar trailed off with a shrug.
