So, I was reading an article about a robber today.
Apparently, he tried to rob a Best Buy- steal a laptop. When a clerk tried to speak to him, he pushed the guy to the floor and pulled a knife, threatening him before running outside. Now at the time of this robbery there were four Marines stationed outside supporting our Toys for Tots drive.

Can you see where this is going yet?
Anyway, the robber tries to charge pass the Marines but by this point- from all the yelling and mess- they've figure out what's going on. When the Marines attempt to halt the robber, he stabs one of them in the back while swinging wildly then attempts to fight them.

The robber was stopped and sustained "two broken arms, a broken leg, bruises, a few broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken jaw, and a broken ankle- injuries he sustained from falling off the curb, stated the Police Chief.

So, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you a new term: falling off the curb now means getting your dumb ass handed to you by a group of Marines.

I personally got a chuckle out of this, though I'm not sure who else will.
Oorah!

Sometimes I can't decide which song I'm feeling more. So here they all are.

Sometime we break promises without realizing we did. And sometimes when you put songs together they make a story.

A Twist in My Story )

The Marine stood and faced God, which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, Marine, How shall I deal with you ? Have you always turned the other cheek ? To My Church have you been true?"

The Marine squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, can't always be a saint.I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got just too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place, among the people here. They never wanted me around-except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't? I'll understand."

There was a silence all around the throne, where the saints had often trod. As the Marine waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Marine, you've borne your burdens well. Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets, for you've done your time in Hell."

I can't claim I'm a God believing man but I've seen the ones I've loved taken from me in an instant. I hope there is something greater for them, because the trials we face in this life can be tough. It was a friend of mine I met before deploying to Iraq that told me this saying and it stuck with me every time I heard those bombs go off in the distance. I don't know if there is a God...but if there is? I hope he is merciful. Maybe I should try going to church or something.
I can't shake these night terrors now.
