Darrius
It had been years since Darrius had made his way home. It was longer still since he'd seen just where his younger brother, Taj, was resided. From the way the man had carried himself at the airport upon his arrival, Dar was left to assume his sibling wasn't hurting by any means. However when he approached the ebony haired males home in his mustang, the Marine quirked a brow. Sliding out of the cherished silver toy, Darrius made his way to the front door where he promptly knocked and silently prayed that Taj had given him the correct address to begin with rather than playing some little fuck-fuck just to mess with him. His fingers smoothed over the high-and-tight hair he'd been issued while he mused on the well-being of his family. Clad in a sand hued cotton tee, his military issued digital desert camo utility pants and tan boots, it was clear that Darrius was still clinging to his newly parted life style that had kept him alive and proud for so long despite the absence of his brothers.
Taj
It would have so been like Taj too to fuck with Dar just like that too. He might have even done it had he thought Dar could really have forgotten what his house looked like. He also saw the silver car drive up, for he'd been watching out an upstairs window with a naked cat in his lap stroking his skin, a mind full of Andy and Casper at the same time. Andy was at the forefront though. He couldn't believe they'd come so close to finding him and he'd disappeared right in front of their eyes. He felt so helpless. He carried his furless cat in his arms down the steps to answer the door with as much enthusiasm as he could considering the circumstances. He opened the door and there stood his brother looking all soldier-esque and Taj felt a surge of pride. Dar was right. Taj did get a little surge of something when he thought of his, "Dragon Marine, Welcome Home!" He stammered his feet a bit with hestitation like Dar almost seemed too big and official in front of him before he dropped his cat and slung his arms around the guy.
Darrius Darrius smiled softly at the sight of his brother. It'd been so long and last person he'd hugged was in the same uniform as him. As Taj embraced him, the dragon Marine eagerly lifted his younger sibling up by brute strength of one arm and smirked. "Hey there, nugget." He chuckled, placing a kiss on Taj's cheek before lowering him down. "Thanks for coming to see me at the airport, by the way. I honestly was expecting to come home to me, myself, and I." His broad shoulders rolled in a casual shrug. "But I'm glad to know you're clearly doing well for yourself."
Taj Taj broke out in a little giggle fit with that one, "You're gonna crush my lungs" he pretended to be gasping for air but really he was just fine. He was not only the younger little brother, but he was honestly a pebble in comparison to Darrius, more like a big rock that could break waves. Taj was a little guy, strong but petite and many of the brother's referred to him as Lil' Taj. When his smaller body found the floor again he parted way to let his big brother through which opened up to his living area right in the center and it curved off to his kitchen to the right his meeting room was adjacent to that, and his cubby den to the left. It was all within view of when entering the home, all Persian inspired and smelling like incense and shisha. Taj looked around and picked up his cat again stroking it's hairless head as he offered his brother a drink, "Well, I've put a damn lotta work into this place since you left. I'm still working on it. But, you know how I get. So distracted. I can't focus on the place. I get an idea in my head and I just go go go and it always gets in the way of home improvements." That's when his long haired cat skidded across the wood floor and under a couch. "Well that and Treble keeps me too busy vacuums or lint rolling everything. I should shave her ass down like clef here." He laughed. "You want a drink? I'm always stocked." He grinned as he headed out towards the kitchen
Darrius
Darrius chuckled faintly as he followed his younger brother towards the kitchen, admiring the home he'd furnished with a touch of envy. A low, throaty rumble rose from deep within his chest- a sound he rarely made. "You know what happens if I drink too much, Taj. My clothes fall off and things catch on fire." The Marine shook his head then with a most sly smirk but clicked his tongue against his teeth and whistled as he entered the kitchen. "Boy, I tell you what- you've always had a good eye for color. That was always a perk of knowing you. You'd never let me leave looking like a complete clown and I owned you a lot for that." His large hand clasped on Taj's shoulder then, giving a firm but loving squeeze as he pulled the smaller lad close and churned in happiness. "I've missed you, Tata. Missed a whole lot...Guess I missed the smells the most- and maybe the colors."
Taj
Taj chuckled again with that come back. "At least it takes drinking for your clothes to fall off. K on the other hand I have to keep throw towels around the house to toss at him in probation or my bosses show up so he cover up quick. Can't get that boy to stay in fabric for anything." Taj was pulling down his typical Jack n Coke out and finding some good flavored shisha for his hookah. "Missed you too, bro. You have no idea. The band hasn't been the same without you and YES we've got a few shit gigs here and there. You think about playing again. It's fun for shits and giggles on the weekend, adds a few bucks in our pockets when we get gigs anyway." He held up a few and asked not knowing if Darrius, "Malibu Sunrise? Mandarin, Cinnamon or Citrus Mint?"
Darrius
The dragon quirked a brow. He'd heard about hookah but they were never allowed to play with the fun toys. Just their guns and their other guns. He shook his head at the reminder of K and his desires to strip constantly. "I'm starting to feel like he should just join a nudist colony and save us all the trouble. Not that he has anything bad to look at, mind you, but it's a bit strange now when he's all fuzzy in my brain as my bro." His hand rubbed over his short cropped hair as he debated on the choices offered. "Hell, why not the malibu? As for the band...Well, let me get my fingers back. All those years not playing and tuning myself to the sound of gun kinda muddled things." The elder male sighed, faintly frowning. "If you've got the drink, though? I'd fucking love a tequila sunrise. We can't drink when we're stationed out. Kinda illegal and anyone caught pays hell."]
Taj
"Why would he do that? They'd charge him for living there. He does it for free right here." Taj rationalized like the little logical spock he could be as humorous as that might have seemed. "Malibu it is." He said tossing it up and catching it. Then he sat it on the table and looked around in the fridge pulling out some orange juice and finding the vodka. "Tequila Sunrise coming up buddy." He answered starting to mix the drink after he poured his own jack n coke and took a swig. "I'll get you practicing those fingers right up tonight if I don't get you too drunk to play. Let's go downstairs in the studio and chill." Then he paused his mixings and canted his head, "I don't think I had that studio down there the last time you were here. That's where I've sunk all my money. It's all downstairs." He puckered his lips and kissed the air, "And boy it's sweet down there. Worth every dime I've slaved for. Every instrument known to man is down there. There's just one missing. The one I'm going to invent someday. You'll see. I'm still working on that though."
Darrius: Darrius watched his brother curiously, his head canting slightly to the side as his blue eyes shifted shades to the metalic, lovely silver-white. "You know, as much as I love being home? I still miss it. Boot, being out there in the wild- shipping off to the land of sand and sun." His shoulders rolled. "I sorta grew to love it, you know? They say the first few months you go crazy and then crazy becomes reality so you start to love what makes you crazy in the first place. I mean, it's kinda barbraric over then sometimes but then you see these kind, generous people who will run up to you in the streets and just want to shake your hand." A faint sigh left his lips as he moved to grasp his drink. "And you know what the shitter of it is, Tata?" His brows raised then as he ran the tip of his tongue over his teeth. "I fucking left people I love behind again. Men that I called brothers and..." His gaze drifted in a distant memory, a momentary thought of lost nights as he took a sip of his drink. "I guess it just all plays out. I think no matter what I do with my life now, I'm always gonna have a part of me there- stuck in that desert, fighting that same war." A flick back to his sibling and Darrius quickly slammed his drink back- chugging down the liquid in a few gulps then sitting the empty glass back upon the counter top. "So, lead the way to this marvelous studio of yours. But first? If you've just got a straight bottle of tequila I can have? I'll buy you a new one. I just need something to suck."
Taj
Taj listened intently and understood. There was a strange pull of jealousy too. Taj had himself so boxed in within the confines of his own life that even thinking of calling anyone but their family of 5 a brother seemed, atrocious to him, like it was just wrong all together. There was a smarter more logical side of Taj that told him he should be happy for Darrius if he found others to enjoy and share his life with, but that would never be Taj. Maybe that was why he stuck so close to Andy. Andy didn't venture out much either. It was an unhealthy codependency but it was what made Taj comfortable. He didn't step outside the box. Sure he had "friends" more like collegues and associates that he pretended to be friends with, but never letting anyone close enough to really get to know him. That was saved special for his brothers only. It was a strange introverted little life really, but that was Taj. He trusted no one. And every time he reached out in the dating world, his heart got smashed. He was learning to never expect anything from anyone. He learned the same lesson over and over. The only people he could trust in life were his brothers. No one else ever held up to the standard so he started to just keep people out. He shoved whatever jealousy he had for how free Dar could be down and let his sphinx logic take over. "Makes sense. You just described sociology 101 class 5 Chapter 11." Yes he had a memory like no other and sometimes it annoyed people when he spewed out facts. He was like the walking Britannica all wrapped up in a petite tattooed boy. "It's very common to feel exactly what you just described. It's group culturalization with task management roles and comradory." He spoke like he were talking to a professor to answer a some question he had raised his hand for. Then good lord Dar asked for a whole bottle? Looked like Taj was about to finally have someone to give him a run for his money. Taj was the little deliquint of the family when it came to things like this. He opened his cabinet and pulled two bottles, one of tequila and shoved in Dar's chest and the full bottle of Jack for himself and started to lead them downstairs. This was one fine studio. It didn't look like the kind of place most see in personal basement studios. There was a grand piano in the center a huge drum kit on the side and just about every known instrument laying around and displayed on the walls in perfects rows. He could supply a whole orchestra himself with what was there. Not to mention the recording equipment, soundboards, and microphones. "So what do you think?"
Darrius
Dar happily clutched the bottle he was given and was already unscrewing the top to tag a swing as they headed down stairs. He gulped the liquid down with a blink and whistled low. "God damned, Tata!" His eyes widened while he looked over the studio, stepping from the stairs to venture in a few steps. "Holy Mary fucking Christ...This place is great!" The grin that he flashed Taj was a look he'd barely shown since childhood, one that came with the faint glimmer in his gaze. He only got this excited when the boys of his platoon had taken him to the largest firing range he'd seen and let him have a go for hours. "Hey, speaking of all the logics stuff you're so good at- how are you doing? I mean, really? I know I can just march right in here and throw my weight around cause I'm older but I worried about you while I was gone. I mean..." His brows furrowed then as he took another drink. "You know why I left in the first place, right? I figured you probably knew. K never really dealt with me much to seem like he wanted to know and Andy..." Darrius frowned then and headed further into the studio, taking a few more drinks. Clearly the dragon was in need of such a release. "Shit, half the time that kid didn't seem to know I existed. He was pretty wrapped up and I was just sorta lookin' out for him as best I could."
