Who: Cooper and Carter What: Cooper and Carter head out of town to visit Coop's family. In Cajun country. What follows is both a bonding experience via road trip and a understanding of a sub-culture for Carter. Warnings: NSFW, Mature content bound to happen (cause Coop). Probably some fluff. Status: Finished
The drive had been a long one, certainly, but Coop was already counting the street signs. While the house they were heading to was the second home of his family, Cooper knew it's placement by heart. After all, mama had always pulled him along on the weekends when she wanted to 'people watch' and they'd sit out on the front porch in the swing while making up stories about the various people of New Orleans as they casually strolled on by.
Biting his lower lip in thought, Coop shifted and rolled down the window of the car. Luckily for him Carter had actually agreed to the road trip. Sure, it stood to test their relationship as a whole (if it could be called that, given Coop wasn't 100% certain Carter wanted to be dubbed his boyfriend), but visiting a family of strong, proud crocodile shifters was bound to test anyone. He glanced over towards the elder man driving and smiled softly, his hand squeezing and rubbing Carter's knee with a throaty purr. "It'll be on the right, Daddy. Should still be mostly white if they've kept up with the outdoor treatments. I know we were worried about losing'er to some of the storms." Shaking his head, Coop rested back in his seat while he licked his lips. "There's going to be a gate. I'll have to jump out and punch in the code for you to drive in. We ain't exactly a family that don't trust others, we just...like to keep what's ours safe from the likes of stealin' folk. Besides, you already know we've got some foes in these parts. If you're lucky, I can take you out gator huntin with me one night. We'll have to be quick and quiet though. Human laws say we can't hunt out of season this time of the year but shifter law says we can do whatever we please in our neck of the woods. Besides, we crocs are the Kings of the food chain down here."
