Summary: Caim asks for the advice of Belial in regards to Evron.
Adrian Marius (7:57:31 PM): Lord Belial, Do you have a moment to speak officially?
Laine Beringer (7:57:51 PM): I do, Lord Caim. Speak.
Adrian Marius (8:03:47 PM): Thank you. I have concerns for a situation I have let spiral by my own neglect per say. My son, Evron... Son of King Iammax. He has been raised out of my own hands do to fortune's unfavor. His teachings are not my own. But, he seems to be under some sort of servitude with King Asmodeus ill-befitting a son of Hell of his stature. He knows no better than to have been treated this way for he had no clue of his stature, for it was withheld from him. The old reasons are long gone and have long outlived their purpose. Where do I stand from my rank to pull him from this servitude?
Laine Beringer (8:04:38 PM): Has Evron signed a contract? Under what terms has he been placed into this servitude?
Adrian Marius (8:04:50 PM): Not that I am aware of no.
Adrian Marius (8:06:21 PM): And basically from what I understand Astarte, the mother goddess who raised him, is friends with Asmo, whathaveyou, basically passed him over there for duty
Adrian Marius (8:06:51 PM): but the duty is menial and meant to belittle
Adrian Marius (8:07:08 PM): which is where I'm seeing wrong in who this boy could be
Adrian Marius (8:07:26 PM): I want to teach him to serve a higher purpose for our Lord
Laine Beringer (8:08:13 PM): Well, if there is no contract upon him, what is stopping him from walking away from them?
Laine Beringer (8:08:31 PM): His servitude to Asmodeus only extends as far as Evron wishes to obey, and Asmodeus wishes to impose his will.
Adrian Marius (8:09:43 PM): that's what I wondered. he was taught submission. as we all should know our place. but as the boy may not be so willing to impose will at this point in time I am
Laine Beringer (8:11:10 PM): Why would he obey one who has no power over him? This is a serious weakness, Caim.
Laine Beringer (8:11:26 PM): Well. No written power. there is still the matter of rank.
Laine Beringer (8:11:48 PM): But without a contract, he is not obligated to obey as far as Asmodeus and Astarte are not willing to force him.
Laine Beringer (8:12:17 PM): But to obey blindly, even stupidly, this is a dire flaw.
Adrian Marius (8:12:20 PM): I understand. It is this weakness I mean to correct
Adrian Marius (8:12:42 PM): I am sorely disappointed in it. but realize it is my neglect that made it so
Adrian Marius (8:12:48 PM): so it mine to correct
Laine Beringer (8:13:50 PM): So let me piece this situation together... You abandoned your spawn, and Astarte and Asmodeus picked him up. Adopted him, if you will. They used your flesh and blood for their own desires. You just now wish to remedy this.
Adrian Marius (8:14:11 PM) : That about sums it up
Laine Beringer (8:15:28 PM): How unfortunate for you. Evron will need to decide to leave of his own accord. If you challenge Astarte or Asmodeus on your own, it will be for ownership of the boy. Not of his will, unless he chooses to walk away.
Laine Beringer (8:16:01 PM): I would find fault as well in a spawn who actually enjoyed being a servant to anyone who is not our Lord.
Laine Beringer (8:16:21 PM): If he is so useless, perhaps it is better to let his finders absorb this liability.
Adrian Marius (8:16:28 PM): Then you understand why I feel the need to correct my mistakes on this one.
Adrian Marius (8:16:54 PM): well, then it's all on them I suppose
Adrian Marius (8:17:08 PM): and I claim no fault
Laine Beringer (8:17:35 PM): Does he have powers which warrant such an argument?
Adrian Marius (8:18:48 PM): I am only just getting to know him, but I'm getting the idea he could hold more power than I, many genes from the King
Adrian Marius (8:19:02 PM): that should not be squandered
Laine Beringer (8:19:11 PM): Then it is unfortunate that his mental state is so poor.
Laine Beringer (8:19:54 PM): Power without intelligence is like a tank without a driver. Much potential, but only a tool.
Adrian Marius (8:19:57 PM): It is. Do you have any advice on how to challenge this
Adrian Marius (8:20:05 PM): I agree
Laine Beringer (8:20:29 PM): Convince the boy to grow a pair and walk away from his wardens, or challenge them for ownership of him. These are your options.
Adrian Marius (8:21:26 PM): I understand. I needed to be clearly aware of my options and you have helped in abundance.
Laine Beringer (8:22:05 PM): Very good, then.
Adrian Marius (8:22:07 PM): Maybe one more thing?
Laine Beringer (8:22:15 PM): Yes?
Laine Beringer (8:23:01 PM): Oh, and there was something I meant to ask you.
Adrian Marius (8:23:07 PM): I’ve not been in the situation to challenge a higher rank's decision before. If it did indeed come to this, is there a usual standard for what is involved in a challenge?
Adrian Marius (8:23:15 PM): and of course, go ahead.
Laine Beringer (8:24:07 PM): You are attending the function tomorrow, are you not?
Laine Beringer (8:25:32 PM): In order to challenge Astarte or Asmodeus, I would recommend not working on a verbal pact alone. I highly suggest putting every detail of the challenge in writing. It's a fairly standard contract procedure after that. The terms of the challenge, which may be defined as you wish, and the consequences for both winner and loser.
Adrian Marius (8:25:39 PM): tomorrow? Asmo's party? No. I'm afraid not. It is my job to serve Italy this time of year. I wouldn't let our Lord down
Laine Beringer (8:25:52 PM): If you would like for it to be more airtight, I would notarize it for you.
Laine Beringer (8:26:03 PM): And is that so? What is your mission, Lord Caim?
Adrian Marius (8:28:37 PM): It's my duty to attend the Slaughter of the Bull, I always over see them, speak to them before their passing into the other realm. Much religious affair goes on in Italy during the Venice Carnival. It's not only a small homage to me, but it is my job to balance out the the positivity there since the Vatican took over. It's tradition. It's duty.
Laine Beringer (8:30:24 PM): I see. You do know that our Lord will be present here in Boston? I hope that you will still send him a generous tithe despite your absence.
Adrian Marius (8:30:29 PM): I will be gone the most of February
Adrian Marius (8:30:42 PM): It's a long traditional
Laine Beringer (8:30:55 PM): If you can spare it at all, I recommend you make an appearance for even a few moments.
Adrian Marius (8:31:37 PM): I will pop in then to cast favor. I'm sure he'll understand
Laine Beringer (8:32:25 PM): Don't speak as if he will offer you sympathy. That's ridiculous. He will decide where you best serve him, whether it be by his side or on your previous assignment.
Adrian Marius (8:33:27 PM): Yes, Lord Belial. I know my duties and so does he. This is all I meant. I only worry my own appearance would almost seem like shirking duty he's previously called me to do.
Laine Beringer (8:35:09 PM): The time zones between Italy and Boston are different. Surely you will not be sacrificing a bull at 7 am.
Adrian Marius (8:36:48 PM): I'm sure I can spare time. But, actually point of fact the ceremony begins a 6am and doesn't end for several hours. But, that's beside the point. I will be there.
Laine Beringer (8:37:28 PM): I'm glad to hear it.
Adrian Marius (8:38:00 PM): I also appreciate the advice of having the challenge noted by you hand
Laine Beringer (8:39:13 PM): Naturally. I would be remiss if I did not see to it that a legal challenge involving such high-ranking figures went correctly.
Laine Beringer (8:39:34 PM): However... if it comes to this, if Evron will not leave of his own accord, I would advise you to consider the actual worth of such a child in the first place.
Adrian Marius (8:40:00 PM): I will have to size him more then
Adrian Marius (8:40:08 PM): as I am only learning more about him
Adrian Marius (8:40:15 PM): this is very valid
Adrian Marius (8:40:27 PM): as it now concerns how it will make my name look
Laine Beringer (8:41:37 PM): Ascertain his real level of power and his ability to use it, and then make a decision. If he is too stupid to ever be of use, then let Astarte take the fall. You need only look to those who have been given officially by our Lord to others in eternal bonds to see what happens to the powerful, but stupid. Even Asmodeus himself is not without mark in this respect. It shows shame. Weakness.
Adrian Marius (8:43:07 PM): I understand.
Adrian Marius (8:43:17 PM): And will heed these words
Laine Beringer (8:44:13 PM): It is not you who needs to heed them, truly. It is him. Allowing himself to be bonded without a contract starts him at a disadvantage in Hell. Others will know this and they will try to take from him everything he has, knowing that he can be had. That he was once had completely.
Adrian Marius (8:46:38 PM): Yes. I see your point.
Laine Beringer (8:47:11 PM): You have your work cut out for you.
Adrian Marius (8:47:41 PM): Yes, I'm seeing this too. First things first. I'll see if it's worth the bother
Adrian Marius (8:47:51 PM): I will get back to you on the latter
Adrian Marius (8:47:54 PM): if it calls for it
Adrian Marius (8:47:58 PM): other than that
Adrian Marius (8:48:04 PM): I'll see you tomorrow
Laine Beringer (8:48:38 PM): I do hope so. Walk the left-hand path well, Lord Caim.
