Alec waited a few moments before he left his room. A very small voice in his head was saying that he shouldn't go, that he should stay in his room. He shook his head at the voice, realizing that it sounded a bit like Max. He was angry with her, despite the carefree smile he displayed to these random strangers. Before he found himself in this place, he'd been accused of murder. A murder his twin had committed. Being punished for something X5-493 had done was nothing new to him, after all, he had to go through weeks of psy-ops and Re-Indoctrination after that punk and his unit escaped. A second round of psy-ops win he'd finally snapped, and went on his murder spree. The same murders he had been accused of. But that wasn't what had made him angry. It was Max's accusations. She actually believed that he could do it, that he could kill someone in cold blood. Sure she'd later believed him, and broke him out of jail, but he knew the thought was still there.
He paced his room briefly, feeling his anger get the best of him. Max's mistrust in Alec wasn't completely misplaced. He was a trained assassin, programed to be the perfect soldier, created for that sole purpose. But so had she. The only difference between the pair was that she escaped when she was younger, and he had not. So where did she get the right to think of him as a monster, when she was created to be the exact same thing. Alec gave his head a hard shake. Yeah, he needed that drink. He threw on his carefree smile once again, and then headed out the door.
He arrived at the front door mere seconds after Lisa, recognizing her right away. Not only from their magical little journals, but also because she was the only one waiting on someone in the area. "Lisa," he said, holding out his hand once he reached her side. "It's nice to meet you in person." He gave her a smirk, playing off his charm. "Shall we?" He gestured towards the doors, before opening it for her. As he headed outside, he glanced over his shoulder, half expecting to see Max watching him, waiting for him to screw up again.
