A smile brightened his face at the sight of hers and he easily squeezed her hand back. He loved that smile of hers, and he certainly loved seeing her happy as opposed to upset. Cassie had been through so much, she deserved to smile.
His own smile turned slightly self-conscious at her words, his thumb rubbing across the back of her hand as he continued to hold it. Some days Adam wasn't sure he did all that much aside from listen without judgment, but he supposed that was something that could be in short supply. "You don't have to thank me, Cassie. I'll always be here for you." He bent to softly kiss her forehead, his free hand stroking over her hair. "We'll keep each other grounded, and safe, in this strange place."
