When she closed the distance between them it was automatic for his arms to wrap around her and Adam exhaled a quiet sigh, finding it a relief to have her close to him. Being with Cassie felt right, more than anything ever had in his life. In the wake of their argument he found himself wondering if he could stand to not have her in his life. If it was worth it to let whatever had gone on between their parents and in their parents' Circle drive a wedge between them. The resounding answer was no. Nothing mattered but this, but them. Certainly nothing that may or may not have happened 16 years ago. It was what his father wanted after all, wasn't it? For him and Cassie to be together? But that was a bitter thought and had only briefly entered Adam's mind.
None of that weighed down his thoughts right then. All he was focused on was how good it felt to have Cassie back in his arms and that he never wanted to be without that feeling. This place was something none of them could have anticipated, but he would figure out a way to keep her safe, a way for them to survive.
His arms tightened around her for a moment, hugging her close as he turned his head to kiss the top of her head. The familiar sense of their magic mingling, uniting, was a welcome comfort just as much as her body close to his. It also reminded him of what he wanted to tell her. They had no secrets between each other and he wasn't going to start keeping them now. Adam was fairly certain he couldn't lie to her even if he wanted to, to be perfectly honest, the fact he was generally a bad liar notwithstanding.
"Cassie, I need to tell you something." His voice was quiet as he tilted his head to look at her. "I don't know why, or how... but I can do solo magic again. Like before we bound the Circle."
