Hearing his familiar voice calling out to her, the blond nearly dropped the glass of water she was dumping down the kitchen drain. Now, there was no one else there, no one else to step in the way or take away the focus from one another. It was just them: Cassie and Adam. Before he stepped inside, the blond thought she could handle the conversation, the closeness and everything else, but no, now that he was behind her, door shut firmly behind him, she no longer felt so strong or so confident in her own abilities.
Catching the glass, she set it aside and took a deep breath. Turning around, she offered Adam a small smile of greeting. It was hard for her to face him down. Those eyes and lips she use to kiss, the body she held on to that night;it crushed her to know he didn't feel the same and never could again. She cursed her dark magic. If only she had forgotten, this pain would not be so raw, so real, and strong as it was now.
"Hey, Adam. How's Diana?" First question and focused on Diana. Keep it together and away from her and them.
