As attuned as he had become to the Cassie he was used to, Adam noticed the way she froze and tilted his head in that characteristic way of his, a hint of a crease in his brow. There was something going on with her father, some sort of issue perhaps. Which didn't surprise him other than the last time he talked to his Cassie they had been agreeing to not be so judgmental of each other's fathers... even if most of the reason Adam had said such was simply because he wanted to mend things with Cassie.
"Was?" That caught his attention and he rested his hands on the bed on either side of him as he leaned forward a little. "What happened?" The thought of Cassie's father not around stirring up trouble sounded almost too good to be true. Adam almost immediately felt guilty for thinking such a thing and tried to banish the thought.
