Wanda listened, but she didn't really understand what Cloud was talking about. But then, if she tried to explain what it had been like with the scepter, when she was developing her powers--
"It must have been a big change," she said. "Even bigger than coming here." The thought of losing memories still made her shudder, and bow her head as she review her own memories quickly, her precious store. Remembering Pietro remembering their parents, his voice when they shared their hoard of memories, consoled her that he would have understood her dependence on memory. Revenge might have proved flawed, but memory was still vital.
She lifted her head to look past Cloud at the carnival, considering his words. The consequences. In her head, Pietro laughed, and she laughed too, a second later.
"It is not the same thing at all, once one has been well and truly caught," she said. The illusion was shattered, the gesture failed. Another time, perhaps she would do better, but for now-- "There is no longer any reason...to risk the consequences." And if one of the consequences she actually cared about was the loss of Cloud's respect, after their talks about making the world better and not worse (how many of her memories were of making the world worse? better not to think about it...)
But her gaze stayed on the tallest, fastest ride. "But I would like to ride that." She looked at Cloud, finally. "We could go out and come back in the right way?" she suggested.
