"Then don't kill me. Or anyone else for that matter. You're stronger and better than this." Buffy wanted to shake her head but she had to keep her eyes trained on him and as many of her senses aware of everything around her as she could. Some of her attention had been divided because of her little not quite Jedi mind tricks or whatever they were. But she wasn't seeing any progress and that didn't worry her as much as it frustrated her.
There was a quiet swish in the air as the crossbow in her hand fired the silver bolt at him. But instead of reloading, Buffy quickly put it back in its sheath as she ran into the forest. Just because she was armored didn't mean she was going to keep standing in the open for him to take a free shot. Truth be told she would have liked to try talking more, but she really needed to be the one to get a first shot off, otherwise her own stalling might get her killed. Start it up, get it done, and then go. She hoped she could beat him down enough to stop him and get through to him, but Buffy she'd actually have to get in close for that and right now he was gunready. She may be a natural with weapons, but he was probably quicker with guns than she was. No way was she grabbing hers before he got a shot out right then.
