Xiria's role within the First Order allowed her to travel and see the galaxy more than any other job would. She had the opportunity to study and immerse herself in other cultures. It made her a more effective spy, and helped her learn to negotiate with a wide variety of people. What it didn't allow for much of at all was to befriend others. There were very few people even within the First Order who really knew her well. Otherwise, she was simply shadows and whispers. Lonely as it was, she made an effort to be forgettable. It kept things uncomplicated, so she could devote herself fully to her duties.
Though she was pleasant enough with people on the holonet, if she met them in person at all, it was simply to have a discussion and then part ways. If there was anything noteworthy to the First Order, she passed it on. Otherwise, she simply let it go.
Today was different. Today she wasn't motivated by anything other than empathy for the situation Jean was in. As a child, Xiria had been so acutely aware of the emotions of everyone around her, she'd scarcely been able to discern them from her own. She'd sensed the weather patterns without understanding what they were, always known when people were telling the truth or lying, and struggled not to be overwhelmed by it all. Reading minds had come later and always been deliberate, but it was enough to make her understand what the girl was going through better than most could.
Rather than the mental voices Jean was hearing, Xiria's thoughts were only on rolling ocean waves. The rest of her thoughts were carefully locked away. She sat on a blanket ten feet from the riverbank, glancing up when Jean arrived. "Hello. Please have a seat."
