Buffy & Selene
"Personally, I think both outlooks are valid, but dwelling on either one too long can probably make you crazy." Buffy paused with a thoughtful expression. "Or maybe that's just me."
"Oh believe me, I know that anyone can be a monster," Buffy said with a shrug. "I may not have a few centuries on me, but I've had a daily variety of experience with evil. I just mean that back home vampires are literally soulless and evil. An evil demon inhabits the body with all the memories and personality when they're sired, but whoever it was when they were alive? Dead and gone. Sarysi didn't feel the same and she's definitely not the vamp variety I'm used to. Most of the vamps in that nest though they were my kind or at least really eager to kill us along with anyone else around."
It sounded like pirate hunting was a pretty good way of making money, something Buffy could definitely use. She was going to need a regular income at some point, so it would be smart of her to think about that for the future when she had more experience with ships. She wasn't nearly ready to risk the only ship she had before she knew she could handle something on that scale. "So basically, it's like bounty hunting on a bigger scale with a lot more profit?" Comparing it to bounty hunting was easiest for her, since it was something she was contemplating taking up, since it would be pretty easy to combine that with the possible slaying gigs.
"That's a thought," one Buffy would take under serious consideration, "But I do have my own ship and I like being able to just jump to anywhere I want without any obligation or something to anyone." Normally she wanted to be surrounded by people to remind her of what she was fighting for, but with how big the universe was and how spread out it seemed those she actually liked were from each other, being able to speed off to help them at a moment's notice felt ideal. That and all the mostly alone time she was getting was pretty helpful to her healing process over all the drama in Sunnydale the past couple of years. An intergalactic war was a breath of fresh air for her. "But I'm going to pass on anything military. The military doesn't play well with me. I'm better at giving orders, not taking them."
