Buffy & Selene
Buffy nodded in acknowledgement. "Good to know, I'll remember it." She'd been shot enough in her life, thank you very much, so she'd stick to defense mode. She'd keep her normal senses on guard and try to keep her newly found abilities in check. She was tempted to warn Selene about her tendency to throw things with her brain lately, but she didn't really feel like sharing with a bunch of strangers. There seemed to be more nonhumans and people giving different vibes to her senses than anything, and she didn't know who had super hearing or anything else not considered average for a human. If anything, she could talk to Selene about it in private when they discussed Alucard, which worked out fine for her.
"Of course," she said oh-so-chipperly, ignoring Sarysi's frown at the 'grown ups'. Still, Sarysi said nothing and slid into watcher mode as their original plan had been. They would mingle and try to be social, but Sarysi was the unofficial bodyguard and backup for Buffy, who admittedly was still adjusting to the alien threats of the galaxy. "Not everyone needs to hear everyone else's dirty laundry. Ending up on this universes idea of a tabloid or something should happen to no one."
Buffy arched an eyebrow, keenly aware of how obvious her interest in Selene’s abilities was. "Really? That's pretty precise. Had a lot of practice with that?" She could feel the age off Selene, not as well as she could a homeland vampire, but Buffy was always pretty good at figuring out how old a vampire or anyone with a long life span was. Sometimes it was about the way they presented themselves, but there was always an air about them.. not quite an aura, but something else. Sometimes Buffy would say ages tasted differently, but that didn't quite work and it made her sound really weird.
"What's a tacwitch?" It almost seemed random considering her thoughts, but she wasn't familiar with the term and if this River could read minds, Buffy wanted to get a better idea of her.
She felt Sarysi tense and Buffy's new empathy immediately felt the shame that her friend felt at having been there, despite not being one of the ravagers. There were other feelings mixed in, including loss and Sarysi silently asked Buffy permission to wander away for a bit with a single look, at which Buffy tilted her head and nodded. The cathar stepped away, making sure to grab something strong to drink, and left the pair alone, her thoughts her own but her eyes on the party. Buffy sighed, her smile slipping, mostly at her own stupidity at bringing up Tenebris in the first place. Bow that foot sure was tasty. "Yeah, there was a pretty nasty group there. I didn't think it would be as bad as it was, but hey, a casino is free of them, I met Sarysi, and we saved a couple of girls. Not too bad considering we were there because of rumors alone." She didn't mention the powerful one that got away before anything even started, but Buffy was still having trouble getting info about her. If she was rebuilding or being active, Buffy hadn't heard of it yet.
