Buffy & Selene
"As you wish", Selene nodded. "Just a warning that security has instructions to stun anybody who draws, except in response to an attack. Lethal force is authorized if stunning doesn't work. This is a gunship; things can get very lethal very fast." She took the offered hand with a small inward smile. She wasn't one of the walking dead things; while her body temperature was lower than a Human's, her hand was warm, living flesh.
"Given the company he keeps, we should probably hold that discussion later, indoors, away from prying eyes. I can read lips, and I may not be the only one about who can."
A wry smile flashed briefly over her face at the antics of the other two. Turning to face the Cathar vampire she held one index finger over her lips. "Hush, child," she said softly, "the grownups are talking".
Selene shrugged. "Yes and no. Yes, I like a good tailgate cookout. But this part of the galaxy is unsettled. It is hard to know all the new players without a program. Here we have many of them gathered in one place. I can hear heartbeats, smell the slightest change in body chemistry, pheromones. I am not one it is easy to lie to. Then, there is my Tacwitch, River. If you don't want her to know what you are thinking, don't think it around her. And who knows, word of a successful gunship gets around, we may pull a few new contracts out of the occasion."
"My cousin said you were a hunter, and you mentioned Tenebris. I hear there used to be a nest of bloodfools there. Used to be. Do I have you to thank for saving me a trip?"
