Buffy & Selene
"Thanks, managed to catch it on sale on Tenebris. Crazy nightlife there," that resulted in a a snort from Sarysi that Buffy ignored without pausing, "But it's good for shopping." Buffy flashed her a dazzling smile, her eyes filled with a pleasantness that hid her guarded interior. Her Slayer radar had gone off tilt the closer she had gotten, so at least Buffy had a proper face to face to go with the rest of the experience. She offered her hand to shake, "I'm Buffy and this is my friend Sarysi." The cathar nodded in greeting, but let her attention slide to their surroundings as Buffy kept talking. "But if it's alright with you, I think I'll hang on to my accessory. It kind of completes the outfit. Plus it's a family heirloom and all."
She wasn't technically lying either. After all, the scythe belonged to the Slayer line just as much as she did. The idea of locking it away when she was surrounded by so many vampires of unknown variety made her uneasy. If anything, she was glad to be armed in case someone did something stupid, which, by the way, would not be her. She may have been prepared for anything, but Buffy was still doing her best to keep the predator in her at bay and give every vampire a chance. Except of course the soulless kind from home. While vampires and demons always triggered her senses no matter what, it was easy to differentiate her home grown vamps from the other types since she knew them so well. She just needed more practice with all the others and it would be super helpful if there weren't so many kinds or if they'd all just stay in one spot long enough for her to compartmentalize them in her mental slayer encyclopedia. So far her choices had worked out well with Sarysi, but that may have been because Sarysi was definitely not sired by the vampires from Buffy's reality, unlike most of the vampires she and Wanda had taken out back on Tenebris.
"It's a pleasure to meet you in person, Selene. I can't wait to dish about your cousin," Her smile didn't waver, but there was genuine feeling this time and not just politeness. "I hope you have something really juicy, because I haven't had good gossip in ages."
"Only because you don't know who anyone is," Sarysi said with a smirk, her attention still focused more on those around them than the actual conversation. "If you paid attention when I try to explain-" the vampire eeped when Buffy's elbow collided lightly into her side, followed by a pout from the tiny blonde. But the vampire just snickered in response.
"Anyway," Buffy made an attempt to segue from her poor knowledge of local pop culture, "I honestly wasn't expecting this kind of gathering. Is this normal for you?"
