WHO: Wanda and OPEN (but if you want to attack Wanda or use something from this against Wanda, please check with me first) WHAT: Wanda is interrupted while training. WHERE: On Naboo WHEN: Afternoon NOTES: If your character knows Wanda and is on good terms with her, and you would prefer to make this an arranged meeting instead of a random encounter, that also works for me :) Drop me a line so I can tweak.
Ever since Tenebris, Wanda had been training whenever she had the time. It was a dangerous galaxy out there, and nothing Wanda had run into since Tenebris had made Wanda change her mind about that -- she felt, more and more, that she had to be ready.
Calling it "training" might be a bit misleading, though. At first, Wanda had set aside a time and a place, tried to follow a certain regimen in the exercise of her powers, to keep her body limber, her mind quick, and her powers strong... But that had been when she'd had a ship, and easy privacy, and plenty of time to do whatever she wanted.
Things had been much more dicey since then; training had become survival, and even after Wanda had finally landed herself in a slightly more settled situation, she still didn't have the privacy to train under perfect circumstances. She'd had to improvise.
One of the ways she did that was her "towing" business. She'd salvaged the shell of something that might have once been a floating vehicle, flimsy and light, nothing that anyone else would have any use for at all, but it provided her with camouflage. From inside, she could use her powers to make it look like she was towing other broken vehicles, or trailers full of goods, or whatever anyone needed towed. It was good exercise, and she was developing a reputation for delicacy. She had a few regular customers whenever she passed through the markets, who had her transport their delicate items from one place to another instead of using the regular services and spending a lot of time packing carefully or risking breakage.
But today, Wanda had picked up a trailer full of vegetables from an outlying farm; no need to be especially careful with that. As she passed over the verdant Naboo landscape, Wanda kept an eye out for someplace to stop, for a little more improvisation.
A jumble of rocks the size of houses looked interesting and not too exposed. Impromptu obstacle course?
Fifteen minutes later, Wanda was glowing with sweat and satisfaction. A good start, she thought, and the scarred rocks around her gave testimony to her efforts. She decided to take a break, then do another fifteen minutes and then resume her journey.
Settling in against a throne-like outcropping, Wanda closed her eyes and breathed deeply, and reviewed what she'd been doing. What could she do better?
She needed more practice using local weapons, she thought, and... Her mind skittered away from thoughts of the Force. She'd had a few other glimpses of things that she thought might be the Force since that day with Mika and River, and she needed to get that sorted away. It was distorting her perceptions... She needed practice keeping it out of her mind, but that was something she'd just have to work on as it came up. She thought she was starting to get better at it, or at least at recognizing what was going on when it happened. So that was progress.
Wanda went on to consider exercises for the powers she knew what to do about, and had just about finished planning out her second training session -- target shooting with the blaster and a little rock moving, she thought -- when something changed around her. Her eyes were closed, but that didn't limit her all that much. She felt the vehicle land nearby both from the breeze against her skin and the knowledge in her mind that her telekinetic power gave her, and maybe, just maybe, a hint of that otherness that she was starting to associate with the Force. Vague, mystical, alive, but elusive, there not there, frustrating...
Wanda stood up and looked at the vehicle, waiting to see who would emerge, wondering if they were here because they thought she might be stranded or if there was some other reason to visit this particular spot. Rock climbing? Hiking? There might be some sort of path along the stream that she'd been splashing through and diverting with her powers...
She hoped she hadn't been ruining a valued natural area with her activities here.
