Ganner pushed the code into the door and watched it swhoosh shut behind him. "Lights on, thirty percent," he said as he walked in and sat down on the sofa in the small living area of his room. The place wasn't fancy, not by a long shot but it was reasonably clean and it was cheap. He could have asked for something a little better since the First Order was paying for it as part of his rehab but he preferred to have the extra money to do other things. Like buy the beer he had in the bag in his hand. it was Saturday night and he was alone so he'd thought he'd grab some beer and watch a movie on the holo. He could have gone to any number of bars or clubs in the vicinity and left with any number of women but that didn't interest him. Which was what he needed to think about. Why he wasn't interested in going out and picking up someone for the night. It's normally what he would have done and as recently as the first week he was there. That changed though. it changed because of one person. Koda. He hadn't expected to see her again. It had been a long time since he'd left Naboo and he knew she would more than likely never leave their home world. After his parents disowned him, there was no reason for him to go back there so he'd been stunned to find Koda literally right in front of him on Coruscant. What had happened after that had been an even bigger surprise and now that she was gone, he found that he hadn't the slightest interest in anyone else. That wasn't like him at all. Ganner had always been a one night stand or friends with benefits kind of guy since he had broken up with Koda all those years ago. Seeing her again though had hammered home a fact that he had tried to forget more than once. He loved her. He'd loved then, he'd never stopped, he loved her still. He could deny it all he wanted, he could sleep with a hundred women but that wouldn't change a thing. Ganner knew that now. The question was what to do about it? There wasn't a lot he could do about it. He was committed to the First Order, he still had four years left on his enlistment and even if he didn't, he wasn't sure he wanted to spend the rest of his life on Naboo. Forget the fact that he wasn't welcome there as far as his family was concerned, he just wouldn't be able to stay grounded. He'd always assumed that he would get a job flying for a shipping company or something of the like and never really settle in one place. Koda would hate that life and he knew it. So what was he to do? Ganner sighed and opened a bottle of beer then switched on the holo. He was going to drink beer and watch a bad movie. It wouldn't solve his problem but at least maybe he'd stop thinking about it for a little while. |
