"We were sixteen," she said. "and it was the first time either of us had seen a dead person. He'd been a good friend to us both, especially to me." Milo had helped her get through a very hard time, a time when she had no idea what was happening to her and what it all meant.
Mika had felt the same sensation from the box but she was surprised that Wanda had felt it. She had limited experience in dealing with Force sensitive people but clearly this young woman had some sort of sensitivity if she could tell that the box was moving ever so slightly. "No, I'm not doing anything," Mika replied. "but this box is special. I don't know how to explain it really. There is this....thing...in our world, it's called the Force. It's a mystical energy field that holds the galaxy together. Some people have the ability to sense it and use it. My friend had it so I guess you could say that box recognizes me." She wasn't sure if she could be honest but there was no sense of malice from Wanda, merely curiosity so she went on. "I have that ability too but I keep it hidden because there are people who would be happy to get rid of anyone who is sensitive to the Force. He taught me how to conceal it and how to use it when I had to but in such a way that I couldn't be detected."
She looked at the box. "I don't have any objection to you keeping the box, selling it or whatever you wish to do with it. There were some things in. the box though that belonged to my friend. If they're still there, I'd like to have them if that's okay with you. May I?" she didn't want to just pick up the box without asking permission even though the box certainly seemed to want her to. Mika had no idea if whomever had taken it had found the secret compartments inside or not but she was about to find out.
