Being bombarded by Wanda's memories and emotions had not been something Buffy was expecting and when the rush came over her as Wanda spoke, Buffy almost found herself getting lost among events that weren't her own experiences. The overwhelming emotions whirled around her and she had to reach out and grasp the nearest piece of furniture to keep from being emotionally whisked away in the tornado. The sound of metal bending from her grip helped to bring more of herself back and Buffy let out a shuddering breath. Her eyes were wide in confusion, pain that wasn't entirely her own, sympathy, and just... "What just happened?"
Buffy was at a loss and the images she had seen were rapid but vivid. She wasn't angry, in fact there was a part of her that was almost glad it had happened, because it gave her a hell of a lot more understanding. But the downside was that the pain was still there and she found herself absently wiping away a tear for the corner of her eye while she was trying not to cry.
Not really knowing what to do, Buffy did the only thing she could think of. She reached out and embraced Wanda with a comforting hug. "I am so sorry." She said yet again, the sorrow in her voice fueled by Wanda's projecting and the reminder that if anyone understood what losing the people closest to you was like, it was her. "But you can't lose him, not really. Just because you have to change doesn't mean you lose him. His place in your life, in your heart? It still makes you who you are now, even as you keep changing."
