Who: Lydia and Luke
What: First meeting
When: Sunday 3/27/2016
Where: A lake on Naboo
Rating: PG
Lydia was still taken back by everything that had happened to her in the past few days. When the lady mentioned a lake, Lydia felt it was the perfect location to get her mind off of things. It wasn’t hard for her to find actually. Once there, Lydia would kind of take a seat on the floor for the moment. The clothes here were extremely strange and nothing she was use too. She missed Beacon Hills. She missed her friends. She hoped everyone was ok. She came to exhale deeply. She wasn’t sure how to process everything, as she came to let her fingers run along the water for the moment. She came to exhale deeply as she brushed her red hair from her face.
This place was nothing like back home. And the fact that she’s on a whole different planet, didn’t sit too well with her. “Why am I here…?” She asked herself as she came to stare at her own reflection in the water. She came to exhale once more as she came to finally look around her surroundings for the moment. “At least, I don’t have to worry about anything trying to kill me…” She said in such a soft voice for the moment.
***
“Is that something that usually happens around here, things trying to kill you?” The voice came from behind her, soft and somewhat quietly perplexed at the same time. An older man stood there, his beard a mix of white and grey, with perhaps some lingering strands of blond to set it off. His eyes were shadowed by the hood of the grey cloak he wore, over neatly folded and belted robes, and his hands were carefully laced in front of him. As he turned his face enough to look at her, she could see that the gaze was still very bright blue, despite his age. “I thought of Naboo as a largely peaceful planet still. Shame if that has changed.”
***
She came to turn around quickly, when she heard another voice behind her. Soon, she came to a stand as she came to notice the man in robes, who held such bright blue eyes, despite his elderly features. “Oh.. No not here.. Back home I meant.” She replied as she came to fiddle with her fingers for the moment as she swallowed down. “Is that what this place is… Naboo…” She replied as she looked around. “It is beautiful here...I just don’t know why I’m here…” She replied lightly as she came to watch him closely.
“I just don’t know why I’m here… Maybe I’m here by accident…” She replied as she came to watch him closely. “Sorry, I’m Lydia.” She replied as she held her hand out to the elderly man with bright blue hues.
***
“I apologize for startling you. I’m Luke.” With ease, he clasped her hand a moment, and then released it. “I am new to Naboo as well, and I thought this seemed like a good place to meditate. My sister sent me down here.” He smiled as he spoke, and his entire manner seemed gentle. “Are you one of those….newcomers, they say, through this rift? I imagine it must be very disorienting for you, Lydia.”
***
When he clasped her hand in his, she felt a bit more relaxed. She came to exhale, and at the mention of being told about the lake she would come to look at it. “Yeah, some woman told me about the lake as well.” She replied as she came to brush her hair from her face. “Yeah.. I guess i am. It’s just.. I keep thinking it’s a dream and I’m going to wake up back home with my friends and family.” She replied lightly.
The whole ordeal with being on a whole other planet wasn’t sitting right with her. Her emotions were everywhere for the moment as she came to let her fingers touch the water once more. Anything ti try and calm her nerves.
***
As if he could feel her turmoil, Luke murmured, “You’re safe here. This is a peaceful place and you’ve no cause to worry.” A brief shadow passed over his face, as if his words reminded him of something, or someone, else, but that was quickly gone. “Tell me about the place where you are from.” He moved so that he could find a seat on one of the rocks surrounding the lake, comfortably folding his robes over his crossed legs.
***
When he came to take a seat upon one of the rocks as she came to exhale deeply for the moment. “I’m from Beacon Hills… It’s not really the greatest place to live but it’s home.” She replied as she came to look in his direction. Soon moving to sit and face him. “I don’t know how much this world knows about supernatural creatures. But where I’m from we have a lot of them. Strange beings or monsters trying to kill us.” She replied for the moment.
“When I say us I mean my friends and I.. We protect our home from those who want to harm anyone in it.” She added for the moment as she exhaled deeply. “I just miss my friends a lot is all mainly. At least I don’t hear any voices here… For now.”
***
“Beacon Hills,” he repeated, mulling over the location. “I don’t know of it.” He watched her as she came to sit down, but it was more of a paternal look, like someone who was looking out for her. “We have many species here that some might call monsters, but it is a big galaxy. You will find all types of life here. And yes, some that try and kill us,” he added, with a ghost of a smile. “I’m sorry about your friends. Loneliness can be a difficult burden.” He shifted. “Would you tell me about the voices?”
***
She came to exhale deeply for the moment when he said he was sorry about not being with her friends. With the mention of things that might try to kill them, she wasn’t too surprised. It was another planet it would make sense to have things fight for dominance. When he came to ask about her voices she would suck in her lips lightly.
“I’m pretty sure they’ll start up again… Soon…” She replied as she came to look towards Luke for the moment. “Back home, I’m called a Banshee. I don’t know if you guys have that here or know what it is… Basically it means i can sense when death is around, I can hear voices trying to communicate with me in a lot of different ways, sometimes, I can see the death.. The newest ability I learned was how to use my voice, or rather my scream as a weapon.”
She didn’t really see the point in lying. She’d come a long way since getting this...gift as Peter once called it and she had managed to use it to help her friends back home.
***
Luke shook his head when she asked if he had heard of the term. But when he answered, he said, “There are those I have heard of who can foresee like you can. It’s not common, but it’s not unknown. Here, we have what is referred to as the ‘Force’. It is…” He hesitated, not wanting to give the same explanation that many had heard. His understanding of the Force had changed so much, over time. “I will say that it is the physical connection that all living things have in this galaxy, but it also is immune to our understanding of time, and space. Those who know how to touch it, and sense it, sometimes we can sense the future, or see into the past. I am guessing that what you can do is a manifestation of that, and certainly not something to be feared.” He smiled, slightly. He had indeed felt her reluctance. “Do you feel different here, in a way unlike where you came before?”
***
When he explained about the force she would make alight face. Only to exhale once more and brush her red hair from her face. “I feel...Out of place.” She replied lightly as she came to watch Luke for the moment. When he mentioned seeing into the past or future, she made a light face. She wondered if this force would enhance her abilities. “Naturally, I feel angry and scared. But right now.. Calm. “ She added as she played with the water a bit more. “But I’ve never heard of this force before, but I guess every planet has their own… mythologies.” She said unsure if that was the right word to use for the moment.
***
If he was bothered that she called it a mythology, it wasn’t apparent at all. “I think it has to be expected that you’d feel out of place on a different planet,” he offered. “Where I grew up, it was nothing but desert, as far as the eye could see.” He made a sweeping gesture with his left hand. “The first time I traveled away from there was….very eventful, you could say. I was very much out of my element.” He smiled, smoothing his hand over his beard, ruefully. “At the same time, I was very headstrong, impatient, and troublemaking, but I learned in time. Suffice to say….there are a lot of feelings that go through you, when you journey far from your home. None of us are immune to that.” He paused, then said, “Have you been able to make any friends yet, here? Friends are vital, I believe.”
***
She came to shrug lightly. “I spoke to a few people. But nothing out of that.” She replied as she came to exhale deeply for the moment. “You’re the first person I’ve met.” She added lightly as she glanced towards the area around them. It was a beautiful place, and for once Lydia didn’t feel like she was in any danger. Which was out of place for her. “...Do I have to worry about anything here?” She asked as she came to glance up towards Luke as he stroked his beard lightly for the moment.
“I’m sure other planets have their own version of danger… I’d like to know what I’m up against, sort of speaking… Or maybe a library?” She added with a lifted brow. If he showed her a library she would be able to gather her own information of this planet and the others around to get a better understanding of what she was dealing with.
***
“You’ll meet others. I sense a lot of curiosity among those here.” Luke folded his hands back inside his sleeves. “There are dangers all over this galaxy. Sometimes in guises we don’t recognize as enemy, but you could have done much worse. Naboo has largely remained peaceful over the years. And as nice as it is out here,” he looked around, “you should go into Theed, into the city. There are many, many people there who are in the same situation as you are. Their stories may be better than a library.” He stood up, and walked over, as he pulled a small device from his pocket. “Here, they’ll give you a new one when you are at the settlement, but you can start with this one. It will answer many of your questions. Just tap the screen.” He did, and it flickered to life.
***
Once that device was placed within her hand, she would look to the tapped screen and soon back to Luke. “What is this..” She asked with a curious expression upon her features for the moment. She made sure to remember the name. Theed. She’d have to check in on that place and see who all was there. She would come to glance back towards him for the moment. “Thank you.. For being so nice to me.” She said lightly, sure those over that net thgn were nice, but this was the first person she meet face to face who was being nice to her.
***
“It’s a holoreader. It will answer any question you have about this area and the people, and more, besides, about the galaxy. I’ve spent a lot of time saving just such information, and I’m glad to pass it on to you.” Stepping back, Luke continued, “There is no difficulty in being kind. Sometimes, it is all we have to offer.” He smiled, briefly, then said, “My mother and my sister are here...I have come to visit them. They’ll be expecting me before too long, but I would still answer anything else you wished to know, Lydia. I don’t mind. It’s...nice to speak with just one person, before I brave the streets of civilization once more.” His expression this time was rueful.
***
She came to hold onto the holoreader as she smiled at Luke for the moment. When he mentioned returning to the streets she made a light smile. “Well.. I am glad I’m the first person you spoke too since coming out.” She replied as she came to a stand to dust herself off. “I’ll be sure to keep in touch with you too. I enjoyed our conversation. I don’t feel so lost anymore now.” She added with a light smile along her features as she came to give him a simple smile. “Well, I don’t want to keep you from your sister and mother.” She said lightly as she took a step back to allow him space to get ready to leave.
***
“If you ever do feel lost again,” Luke replied, “you can reach me through this as well. My full name is Luke Skywalker. I will help you, if I can. And if I am not close enough, I know many people that will.” He was close enough to put his hand on her shoulder, a kind touch. “There are many here who would do the same. Don’t fear.” With that, he stepped back, pulling the hood back up and over his hair. “Goodbye, Lydia, until we meet again.”
***
“Thank you, Luke.” She said lightly, and when he touched at her shoulder it made her feel more at ease. “Goodbye Luke.” She replied as she made sure to hold that holoreader close to her. It did make her feel good to know she meet someone kind her first few days here. Already she moved back to her original location.
