They had always been so close to death. All the time. After all, Octavia was only alive because she'd been too young to kill when she was discovered. The Earth tried to kill them at every turn and they persisted. They persisted through time and space and into a completely different galaxy and universe. Death was close, but death never won. Not ever. Death stayed at arm's length for so long that Bellamy had begun to think they were untouchable. So the idea that Octavia was dead... it didn't compute. He couldn't fathom it. He was just coming here to assuage Cat's worry. Whatever body they had - it wasn't his sister's. He refused to consider it. Ever since she came into this world, Bellamy's entire life revolved around her. Surely, if she'd died, he would've known.
It was like before. One moment he felt her and the next he didn't. She just slipped back through the Rift. Bellamy was sure of it. It was kind of Cat to search though, so Bellamy hurried to meet her. In the wake of his tension with Clarke, Bellamy was glad he'd found her.
When he arrived to the morgue, Bellamy couldn't help the sudden uptick of his heartbeat and the way his stomach turned. He knew - knew - this wouldn't turn out to be anything, but he hated the way his nerves betrayed that confidence. He caught sight of Cat and quickly closed the distance between them. "Hey," he greeted her, a hand coming to rest on her shoulder reassuringly. "Thanks for doing this," Bellamy said, tone genuine, and he offered her a small smile. "I know it's not her, it's okay." The words were more for him than for her, now that he was standing outside of a morgue, but he was just glad he had someone to focus that emotion on.
Bellamy looked to the building and then back to Cat, taking in a deep breath. Suddenly, he wasn't sure he really wanted to do this anymore. The indecision and worry was etched onto his face but he couldn't bring himself to voice it. Of all the things in his entire life... even turning up here on Naboo, standing outside of a morgue because Octavia might be dead - it was the most unbelievable thing of all.
