Who: Oliver & Felicity Where: Hospital What: Meeting up When: After their conversation Rating: TBD Status: Closed; Incomplete
When she joined with Oliver, with Team Arrow, Felicity always knew that she was taking her life into her own hands. One day, no any day, could find her in a worse predicament than the one before and Felicity did not require an inch of her genius-level intellect to know this. While she did not relish in the possibility of death or horrible injury, she accepted it as part of her life...the life she chose. Despite the dangers, the darkness surrounding her every day, Felicity could take comfort, strength in knowing it was her decision, her choice. You could not die unhappy, miserable, if you were doing what you wanted to do when it happened; when you had the chance to save another person's life, the city, or even the entire world.
An added bonus, to Felicity the best part, she had found the man she loved, the man she was going to marry, in the process. Oliver Queen, ex-playboy billionaire turned hero, had never been what she pictured when she allowed herself a daydream that didn't involve some television star or book protagonist. Sure, the guy would be gorgeous, handsome, successful (Why not?), and maybe like everything she did. Maybe a bit of a computer nerd like her, a hacker extraordinaire even, and they would have a wedding, it didn't need to be big or fabulous, and settle into a small house on some unknown street. Children? She counted nothing out, but while she possessed a wild imagination, it had never stretched or expanded as far as to possibly include him. Mostly, it was because was declared dead for 5 years, the other? Guys like that did not fall for girls like her. She believed in the impossible, but this was Starling City, not a fairy tale or latest Disney movie craze.
But there was more to Oliver than what she saw on the outside, as there was more to her, to anyone, and she fell in love with him. Far from the looks, the money, he was selfless, a true hero. He gave everything, anything for the city and he tried. He tried until there was nothing left in him to give and even then, he dug down, some place deep, and found more, scraps, to carry on. Yes, Oliver Queen was a man, human, mortal, capable of all human weaknesses, but also all human greatness too. For all his faults, when it came to the people he cared about, the people he loved, there was nothing he would not do for them. Nothing he would not do to protect them, to save them, even if it meant giving his own life. Time and time again, he'd sacrificed it all, happiness, family, friends, truth, for nameless faces, numerous strangers, and without anyone knowing who was behind the hood, the mask, darkened with shadows. Felicity had fallen in love with him and though she knew better, she couldn't stop it, couldn't control it and every fiber of her being did not want her to. For as Oliver would do anything for the city, for all of them, she would do anything for him. They had differences, moments of doubt on both sides, but in the end, he'd left the city, in the capable hands of the team, with her. He'd earned a selfish moment; no they earned their moment. It was perfect. Sure, Felicity had issues with cooking... a lot of issues actually, but even the most flawed of moments, the most messed, couldn't destroy the reverie, the peaceful paradise they had created with each other.
Long before Oliver returned to being a hero, Felicity was helping Team Arrow. The civilian life she wanted so badly? No, not anymore. She missed saving people. They came back to Starling, the risk as real as ever, but Felicity wasn't afraid. As long as she him, she could face anything, she could do anything. Except stay alive. They both knew that as much as she Oliver's strength, she was a liability too. A weakness that enemies would exploit if they ever knew and they always seemed to know. Bleeding out, she could barely feel the warmth of Oliver's touch, the slight chill of the city, night air. She could not feel anything. The world moved slow, wavy, as if it was occurring in slow motion, underwater. Every time she took a breath it hurt and Oliver's voice slipped further and further away until was an echo. No! She would not leave. She would fight...
She never expected to wake up again let alone in a strange world, a planet called Naboo. The people attended to her, swarming around her, and though she tried desperately to keep her eyes open, she couldn't. When she finally woke, she was in bed, patched up, head pounding, but, most surprising? Alive. Though the world remained fuzzy around the edges, she found her communication device and after a study that made her feel embarrassed (it took too long to her), she managed to send out a message. It was weak and she was not sure what she was saying. The only clear thought she had was him. Oliver. He answered. He was here! Was he okay? Thea was here too. She pushed him to see Thea first, but Oliver, stubborn like herself, agreed only after he saw her. She opted for a moment, but only a moment. His sister needed him too and for the moment, Felicity believed she was safe...if they wanted her dead, they could have accomplished easily upon her arrival.
Dehydrated, Felicity sipped water and forced herself to sit up, pushing pillows behind her back. If he thought she was in any danger, he would not leave and Felicity needed him to believe she was okay. That she would be okay. Blue eyes shifted to the door and their they remained, perhaps breath held too, until his familiar form came into view.
