"People still learn new languages as adults," Caine pointed out. "They learn plenty of new things when they're older. Change their entire point of view, sometimes. You're here to help the Jedi, aren't you? To make sure they don't end up dead or worse because of the First Order? Seems to me they owe you one." From what he'd heard of the Jedi, it seemed as though they could use all of the help they could get, even if that meant breaking tradition and training someone who was supposedly too old.
"The harvest is a part of life in the commonwealth. The Entitled Houses view the planets in their estates as farmland, the people on them as livestock. Everything's managed so that no one on the planets knows that they're essentially being farmed. People who do know about it have convinced themselves that it's just the way things are, that the harvest is acceptable as long as no one in it feels any pain or suffering. When you have the chance to live for tens of thousands of years, people who only live for a hundred start to look smaller than a grain of sand."
