The two victims, who made Buffy want their names, had been watching the scene with both interest and a semblance of fear. The one that had seemingly translated for the other, and Buffy had to rack her brain for the name Togruta, spoke up. She held her head up high and tried to keep her voice from shaking. "She didn't help us, but she didn't help them either." The young woman seemed almost unhappy at admitting that, but Buffy gave her some imaginary points for apparently being honest.
"Oh give me a break!" Sarysi said with roll of her eyes. Her exasperation was evident and she was taking offense to it. "I was outnumbered! Do you think I want to end up like Ellken?" The name triggered a memory and her eyes darkened. Her legs seemed to wobble for a moment, something that might have been missed by a casual onlooker but the Slayer was watching her like a hawk. "We usually asked first if we fed on anyone. But I'm not going to lie and say we never killed anyone. But it was never anyone I fed on." Her head lifted and she appeared to have found some inner strength to deal with all of this. "If your life is on the line, you protect yourself."
Buffy had kind of hoped Wanda could have gotten more of an idea of how honest Sarysi was with her array of abilities, but from the sound of things she didn't have much more to work with than Buffy did. That was disappointing in more ways than one for Buffy, as she had hoped to compare what her instincts were telling her to what Wanda might have picked up. Honestly, Buffy herself was torn. The predator in her wanted to just slay Sarysi and be done with it if she couldn't hunt her. But there was a part of her that just felt like Sarysi was on the level. It wasn't blind naivety, as she had heard plenty of fake sob stories on a regular basis when on patrols.
"Can you lock her up?" The Togruta asked.
That wasn't a bad idea. It would give Buffy a chance to get more of a feel for Sarysi, the vampiric differences she had, and to discover if she was telling the truth. "I have the space do it," Buffy slowly admitted. There was kind of cage with light or energy walls on her ship that Clippy had explained in far too much detail what it was for. What she had gotten most out of that conversation was that her ship had at one point belonged to a small time bounty hunter and they had used the cell for work. But first things first, Buffy needed to know about the one that had escaped. But she also didn't want to draw Wanda into this any further than she had to, at least until she had more information. "You willing to be locked up?"
Buffy's question caught the catpire off guard and she had to think about it before replying. "Not really, but if it gets me away from here and I'm still alive, I'll take it."
Though she kept her serious mask in place, Buffy was already thinking the logistical nightmare of this situation if she actually did keep the vampire with her. Locked up or not, there was still a feeding issue.
"They have a supply of blood in the kitchen," Sarysi blurted out in an attempt to be helpful
This could go very poorly and Buffy knew it. Even if Sarysi was on the level, vampires were still vampires. But to be honest, Buffy just wouldn't feel right staking her at this moment in time. "I'm going to take her with me," Buffy decided. "She can stay in the cell until I decide if she's worth believing in."
