Buffy was aware of Wanda's workings, but she kept most of her focus on the vampires. The numbers weren't bad and while she could smell blood from their victims she could also still hear their heartbeats if she concentrated. Rapid but strong, which was decent sign they would survive this as long as Buffy did her job before worse was done to them. Thankfully, Wanda covered them, allowing the Slayer to start engaging with some of the braver ones that started forward.
Wanda's blast occupied one, giving Buffy time to step in and take care of the other. Human, or at least looking enough to pass for one, Buffy took a swing with her scythe. The blade whooshed through the air and cleaved an outreached arm off the vampire she had chosen. Vampire eyes widened and Buffy took a moment to strike out at the vampire Wanda had blasted, to allow her time to avoid being overwhelmed. The kick landed on te vampire's head and made her fall back. As Buffy regained her own footing, she took another chance that basic human anatomy would apply and staked the first vamp in quick succession. She pulled her scythe out and while it was still in motion aimed the arc toward the other. Blade met neck and the vampire lost her head before Buffy could think of a good quip to go with it. In her defense though, she wasn’t completely feeling like her old quippy self yet. Though the slaying really was making her feel normal again. Go figure.
She heard a feminine and sultry voice say something, the tone commanding. Buffy's gaze followed the sound as other vampires struggled to get to their feet after Wanda's momentary foray into furniture moving. They were distracting, but she managed to catch a glimpse of the speaker. Glowing eyes with a scarf covering her face, the figure practically vanished into the shadows and Buffy lost sight of her due to the vampire's movements getting her attention. Buffy growled and realized it was less of an offensive and more of a distraction for the mystery woman. As Buffy began to really get into this, she tried to sense where Miss Mysterious was, only she couldn't sense what direction the woman had gone. She was simply gone and nowhere Buffy could sense at the moment. At least that meant there were only seven left now.
A pair of arms grabbed her from behind as she back handed a vampire. Thinking they could hold her back, she assumed, despite her arms still being free. Buffy rolled her eyes and drove her head back into his face, causing bone and cartilage to break on his end. Still, he held onto her, so she forced him back when she used both legs to kick at an oncoming vampire. The force of strength knocked them all down in the process. He landed on his back with such an impact that his grip was lost and Buffy, who was ready for it, leapt back to her feet and kicked him in the side hard enough to send him sliding across the floor, in turn knocking another vampire off their feet.
She pulled a stake out of her duster as another human vampire made a rush in that direction and tossed it with a practiced ease at their chest. Buffy's aim was true and another vampire fell into dust. Six to go. She had to keep track so no one would catch her too off guard and so that she wouldn't get lost in the primal rush of combat. She didn't want to accidentally lash out at Wanda or one of the victims because she was in full on Slayer mode and battle rush.
"Gee, I almost hate to tell you, but odds are looking really great in my favor." That perky cheerleader voice of hers, which on occasion bothered her sometimes with how easy it was to slide into it, was back again. But it also helped to keep herself in check. "If any of you were actually leaving today, I'd probably tell you to start rethinking your life choices. Try going to a career fair instead of embracing the whole blood sucking night life."
