Buffy crinkled her brow as she took that in. Powers, even ones she hadn't really seen before, weren't exactly new to her, but this definitely didn't feel like magic to her senses. But it was still pretty cool. "Kinda wish I had powers like that. Be really handy for Tuesdays." At least they would be if Dawn were here. And if there were actual Tuesdays.
She noticed a new somberness to Wanda and she wondered what she had said or done to cause it. The last thing Buffy wanted was to make Wanda uncomfortable and not just because of the situation they'd put themselves in. Buffy certainly didn't want to cause Wanda any pain if she could avoid it. After all, she had more than her share of mood shifts and switches for them. But rather than pry about it, Buffy let it go when Wanda seemed to want to focus on the present. That was fine, and maybe taking out some vamps would be a solid distraction.
"Ok, then. Let's go with containment and herding if possible. If we need fire, we'll know." Usually by how outnumbered they were. Buffy let out a steady breath and with her scythe in hand, led them out the double doors the vamps had entered from. She let her senses and instincts lead the way, down the corridor, past a few doors and dark rooms where Buffy sensed nothing, and toward another set of double doors. Music could be heard pulsing from behind them, the rhythmic thuds of movement in time to the beat of whatever was playing in there. She could hear laughter and the white noise of chatter that usually accompanied a decent party, but none of it felt right to her, not just because of the undead activity.
There weren’t quite as many vampires as Buffy originally expected, which probably meant some had left. Likely to the casino or elsewhere, but that wasn't a problem. Buffy could do clean up later and hunting stragglers wasn't too hard if she knew they existed. She was about to signal Wanda with a silent gesture, but an ear piercing shriek rang out. Not the fun party kind either, but the very familiar terror filled kind that told Buffy that someone didn't want to be anyone's chew toy. Without much of a warning, Buffy kicked the doors open with full strength, sending them off their hinges and crashing right into a couple of vampires, game faces on.
She spun the scythe in one hand and took a quick count of the group scattered in front of her as she flashed a cocky smile at them. There were at least eleven vampires by her count, so it really wasn't too bad, but there was a stronger presence in the room that had her thinking there was an older vamp, probably the leader, lurking about. "So I heard there was a party up here and yet no one thought to invite me? I'm hurt, really."
The collection of vampires was mostly human looking, but there were still a couple of aliens among them. One of the human vamps glared, their glowing golden eyes filled with annoyance. "Who the hell are you?"
A pale but still human looking vampire dove at Buffy, likely so the others could test her, and Buffy kicked him in the chest, causing him to stumble back just in time to find the stake end of the scythe driven into his chest. "I'm the Slayer," she said proud and loud as the vampire's remains fell to the floor. Now there were ten. She heard at least a one gasp of recognition, which could only mean good things, right?
Probably not, but she could hope.
"So, who wants to dance first?" She asked with an overly bubbly voice.
